Walt if I put a pic up this week of a Blue Copper cockerel, could you give me an opinion about him? Just got to get him to an area where I can get a clear pic.
Not a problem.....put it up.

HI! I used to live in Ridgecrest when I was young. Lived there for about 7 years or so and moved when I was in the 8th grade. My brother named his German Shepard "Inyo".Hey! Everyone! I just found this thread. Guess I can be added to it since I live in the high desert of California. I actually live in a little(don't blink) town called Inyokern, just off 395 halfway between Bishop and Los Angeles. I have the full view of the Sierras from my front porch and I love to sit in my swing with a cup of coffee and enjoy the view. That is if it's not windy. Yuk! I hate the wind. I have chickens, quail, parakeets and finches as well as a German Shepherd and a cat. I love to read, quilt, crochet and garden. Hope to enjoy visiting with you all.
I HATED the dust devils. They could sand blast the skin right off of you!I really love it here except for the wind. It's been blowing now for days and it does get tiresome. I can't work in the garden because of the dust blowing. I love the mountain view when it is covered in snow. It's breath taking. Sorry to hear about the egg eating. Mine have never done it. I have a motley bunch. My rooster Henry, is a Maran/silkie and is very gently. I have 8 hens in the big pen, two Turkens, two Silkies, two Wyandott's, a Plymouth Rock and a red whatever. All lay and the Turkens lay huge brown eggs. My smaller pen has the bantams. I do have a Polish that's 8 years old that my neighbor gave me to rescue. All her other chickens died of old age except this one. She still lays several eggs a week, bless her. I have a pair of Old English Game hens, and a pair if Frizzles and an odd black one of unknown origin. The two roosters get along just fine and all but the Polish will eat out of my hand.
Zombie chickens. Sorry you are having this issue. But I learn a lot from other people posting possible solutions. I have sort of been lurking here and don't jump in much but work is not all it is cracked up to be today.I have to stand inside out just out of the pen to get close to getting them. They wait and as soon as an egg is laid it's like "Night of the Living Dead." They jump in pecking. They have never done this till recently and no other pen is doing it. They've even pushed out the bedding right after I fill the boxes, looking for eggs. It's ridiculous!
Oh no! hope you are ok!I'm the one in Sanger near alice, I just hatched some marans from her eggs, they are about 6 weeks old now, so no egg eaters here. I hatched 6 and i got 5 roos. They are all at my house in town because I tore a leg muscle and haven't been able to build the new pen at my sisters like I was planning.
Cute chick!
I went to move an extra broody out of a crate my original hen is sitting on and a half hatched chick rolled out with an egg. I hear lots of peeping, so I'm going to wait all night if I have to and grab them out as they hatch, so they'll hatch them all. I hope this doesn't break the second girl, cause I want to set eggs under her and the other 3 that want to sit. This has been a busy day with everyone hatching at once!! But I like it!!!
