That is so true. But since we would be closer to Illinois from there than from California...hehe.
I'm not trying to be too interested in it, because if we couldn't get out there to look at the property before he sells it to someone else then I won't be too disappointed. I have not been in a cob house but we know it's the one we want to build. It seems sturdy enough and if it lasts for even three decades then all that hard work of building it will have been worth it. I want to try to do a workshop, though. Adobe over straw bale would be great for the north-facing wall, at least I think that's what a guy said when he built his "mixed" alternative methods house. He used cob for the south facing wall I think. I like the looks of cordwood, too.
