CALIFORNIA The Whole State thread

That is so true. But since we would be closer to Illinois from there than from California...hehe.

I'm not trying to be too interested in it, because if we couldn't get out there to look at the property before he sells it to someone else then I won't be too disappointed. I have not been in a cob house but we know it's the one we want to build. It seems sturdy enough and if it lasts for even three decades then all that hard work of building it will have been worth it. I want to try to do a workshop, though. Adobe over straw bale would be great for the north-facing wall, at least I think that's what a guy said when he built his "mixed" alternative methods house. He used cob for the south facing wall I think. I like the looks of cordwood, too.

Hi, I posted on the SoCal thread, but I'm in Fullerton (Orange County). This is a cool idea and really informative. Thank you for the time you put into it.

Hi Lowry! Welcome to the California thread! Kim has put in a lot of hard work on this thread, putting CA events and breeders etc in one place. She deserves huge kudos for this project!

I was born in Orange County, a few decades ago (OK several decades is more like it).

A workshop is a great idea! I would love to attend something like that as well. How interesting that would be!

Folks in this area are really getting into this subject lately. Maybe I could talk the local Community College into doing a small project in a local park or rec center or something? Oh boy here I go again... OK I need to finish Chicken Coops first, then the 19 other projects that are waiting my attention. Then I can go play in the mud!

I was just reading about Rocket Mass Heaters cause someone on BYC is making one. These things look sooo easy to build (well comparatively) and they are super efficient. Anyone here have experience with them? They would fit in nicely with a Cob house.

Actually we were talking about attending workshops.

Sunny while you're scouring, see if they have anything close to me where I can learn to build a cargo house. Too bad I'm not bartending these days. I had the best lest of resources back then, for people who could do anything. matter of fact I knew like 10 plumbers. Sure could use them right now. Oh and one of the glazers, Electricians....hmmm might be able to find one of those or and my friend Guillermo, and his bull dozer! Man I miss having connections.

I need to go out back and get feed all of the animals, but party time in the next door neighbors backyard and I'm not going back there. Wish I had a solid 8ft fence. I'm tired, but can't sleep till I can get out there. What a pain.
