Who is planning on going to the Fresno show? We are bringing 13 birds (calls, polish, Cochins). We are couping in Friday around 3 then going back to the hotel to swim. Our hotel has an indoor pool. The kids are excited! I just hope I'm better by then. I hurt my back wednesday and have been in bed ever since. I'm going in for X-rays tomorrow and hope I get some answers.

I'll be there on Saturday to spectate and hopefully come home with a couple of new featherbutts. I haven't been to a show before and want to see how everything is done before I try my hand at it. I'd love to meet fellow BYC members and root for your birds

Well since the girls have been laying my younger boys have been practicing and a few have developed attitudes. I can handle that, but while I was in the ER I had one of my sweetest ones, chase my youngest daughter 24 and son 15. They've been grabbing brooms since then or bugging me to the point I figure it's easier to do it myself, cast and all. LOL BTW, same cockerel came after me and than realized his mistake. Thing is I think they knew these 2 goofballs were a little leary of them anyway. They must look like easy marks. I do know if it doesn't stop, I'll be getting different roos. Not going to put up with that and it was uncalled for. I'd trade in the kids but I've got more invested in them. LOL

Hoping I don't have a second break like I suspect and I get to have a shorter cast. That will be a little better till this thing is off completely.

It's funny that you say that; I had a roo for awhile that wouldn't go after me or my two year old daughter, but every time my twelve year old son went out there that roo would go after him. It was if he sat and waitied for Connor to come out. I laughed untl the same roo went after a neighbor, after that he was relocated.

I think there's something to that testosterone theory. Almost every one of my too many roos has chased the hubby. They don't tend to try it with me. Of course I have told ALL of them, including hub that Mama is alpha roo and top dog around here The birds at least took it to heart.

If I had 2 hands I'd take the time to tell you what my husband used to tell men about how to stay happily married. Basically coached them to kiss butt and always say "yes dear." LOL

I'm near Fresno and will be going to the show in the morning, barring unforeseen problems. I have to go to work in the afternoon so i'm going to miss the judging, which is kind of a bummer. Hope to see some of you there.

I think most cockerels go through a stage where they test whether or not they can take on a human. Most aren't very serious about it, once corrected. I take the firm approach to this.

I've also seen normally passive roos that will take on certain people. Maybe they can sense fear. Small children and strangers who enter the chicken area are also more prone to incite the protective behavior in a roo that is submissive to me.
