CALIFORNIA The Whole State thread

1/2 Dozen???? OMG! You'd go blind trying to find them in the bags. LOL I order them usually at about 150 or more per order. Sometimes 300. I was just running really low and don't know how that happened. Just got one of my orders during the week, so I'm good till the next one gets here. So it's not like I don't have a few to share when I have a stock pile, but my stockpile was hit by a grandkid and just about depleted. She wanted my roos's tail feathers too! I gave her what I have cleaned, sanitized and bagged. I literally hid the family jewels, which are basically uncut gemstones. ROFL!!!

Quote: Bahaha! You assume I have lots of stuff to go through! Before you sent me this package all my jewelry supplies fit in a box half the size of a shoe box! Including the tools. Now I've warned Steve that I will have to go get more stuff to go with all the beautiful silver fittings you sent along as well. hee hee He just laughed and said he'd already figured that one out!
Awesome cake Kim....My daughter loves cake decorating too. I took classes years ago only to find it wasn't really "my thing" but I was soooooooooooooo good with that because I already have too many things that are "my thing"......LOl I passed all my compulsively collected equiptment on to Cari so she is the envy of all her friends with all my stuff......LOL. I much prefer building things like birdhouses & chicken coops etc.......LOL
Carrie Stroble is almost here. Last call she was in Oakldalew on her way here. We will drive through the auction & drop off birds of hers then on to breakfast/lunch or whatever then back to my house to load all her things for her trip back upto Arnold.
Sounds like a wonderful day is planned. Have fun!

One box? OMG. Try boxes and boxes of just jars of seed beads alone. Silver stuff in probably 6 to 8 boxes, silver plated and gold plated I'm doing pretty good. One tub about 3x1 1/2 feet. That's just that tye of stuff. I make baskets, do leather work, sew, crothet, but not anything great with that. I have so much stuff, but sometimes missing one item holds you off and takes forever to get back to. You need some nice pliers and some little specialty tools and I can show you how to make lots of things. Whenever I get things for scrapbooking, those go to one of my grand daughters. I used to do photography, but don't have anything left, so my youngest sister and this same grand daughter (oldest daughter's stepdaughter) are the photographers in the family now. Can't tell my sister, but my grand daughter is even better and only 13. She has done some awesome work and I keep trying to talk her into submitting some things to contests. She loves to shoot pictures and then make up scrapbooks and let me tell ya, that kid could make money with her talent. Sewing I haven't done since I moved here. It's just too tiny of a house and a like sace when I'm working. Plus I do everything in the middle of the night. I have no creative juices when the sun is up. LOL

We need a meetup in the Central Valley. So many chickens here and we always have to go to other areas for meetups. Besides I don't know if I'll be staying in this area and it would be nice to see all the people who live around here before I figure out where I'll be.

Cool! You do leather work and baskets too? I have never tried either one. You are a woman of many talents Kim! No wonder we get along so well!

I crochet, sew, paint and sculpt and used to be a photographer for a living and a florist after that but haven't put a lot of time into any of that since the back went. Most of the things I love seem to take quite a toll on the back for some reason.

There are so many more things I would love to try in the arts (including leather work, theater and stained glass) but time and money get in the way as they do with most of us. I do consider my vocals artistic too but I always wished I could learn an instrument well and never did. Can't complain though. I've done a lot in my life and had a great time doing it.

About the only thing you have mentioned that I've never had an interest in is the cake decorating. I love to bake but once it's done I want to eat it not fuss over the decorating. lol! I do fuss over the baking and prep part though.

Today was great......Carrie came & she took home all here birds & some equiptment too & dropped off her extra roosters & ducks at the auction. We went to lunch at Hilmar cheese & then made a trip to Four Seasons nursery & stopped at a couple of fruit stands for Cheeries & Avacados..............all in all great.I am now, with dinner out of the way & looking forward to an evening of NOTHING...!!!!!!!!! LOL Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....LOL

I completely agree! There are quite a few of us who would love to get together to talk chickens. I would gladly help organize something if we can gauge the interest.

If we could find something extra cheap or free that would be a bonus. Let's see if anyone is interested.

Karen it sounds like you 2 had a great time. Cherries and avocados huh? I might have to visit you. LOL I had started some avocados and they got so big I passed them around. I got a bunch more and started those and I think they are a hybrid or something, because the seed splits and then they die. I've started a ton of avocados in my life, but these were the pits. Pun intended. LOL

Makayla came in earlier with a Cortunix roo. I had chased down another one last week, but I'm not sure what type it was. So I thought I had this huge roo to find a place to put and when I checked on my birds it was one of my own. I'm missing 3 hens. Good thing I have some babies here, but I need to find out who opened my pen. It's up too high for Kayla and Dakotah no longer has anything to do with the birds. hmmm

On another note. The SPPRs, Silver Phoenix and Lav AMs laid today. They are in trios. Other than that I got an olive eggs from Shady. I've been breaking up broodies and I think they are striking. I didn't even find an egg in the yard. Oh, but while I was out there I looked at the black AM chick from my BBS breeding. Roo or pullet, I like this bird. Some of my others aren't as nice, but this one stood out. The 2 black Orps I got from Karen stick together out there and are having a good time running around the yard. They let the black AM hang with them, but if they move on they don't necessarily invite the AM, but they don't mind him hanging out with them. I think both of them are pullets. Does that mean with even the new restrictions here, I need a roo?

I heard a suspicious noise coming from the chicken coop this morning, I think it's my Cuckoo Marans trying to crow!!!! Guess I'll have to try and find him a new home soon. Bummer.

Aw, I'm sorry.

Make sure it really is a rooster, my pullet tried crowing for a few days, then laid her first egg..
