I keep saying that about the bantams too. I have a trio of Silkies that I keep saying are going and they they give me that "oh MOM I love you look." I can't do it. Lowrider is my only BTB Jap and I can't get another to hatch from any sources. The breeder had to give up all of her birds (BYCer) and his parents were shown many times and always won. She loved the pics of him and besides, he thinks he's this big huge thing and wonders the yard like he owns it. He's not going anywhere. My Mottled Japs have become crazed. Don't know why, but they make noise when we try and hold them and that little roo tries to flog me in the face. I almost hope this chick I hatched out is a roo, just to be able to toss him in the roo pen and say "You should have been a good boy!? Then I have the OEGBs and none the right colors, so they will just produce mixed. My little Favs are just too sweet except when I try to coop Baby with them, then the hen gets all ruffled and she's hurt her before, so she wonders with Lowrider. Plus we go out back and she's right there to be picked up and carried. She really is a baby. LOL Then there's the little Modern Games. I just love looking at those goofy looking things. And lastly I still have little Lav AMs from you. I heard someone say they were looking for some when I was at your house, but didn't dawn on me to think of rehoming them. I do love them though. My little hen is sooo cute, but the little roos just haven't been held much. One is getting a little better when I can caught him, but the other one, as pretty as he is just doesn't want to be bothered. Figures he's probably the better of the 2.Thanks for the heads up Walt, I will pinion them for sure. I hate aggressive animals but these will be my son's thing & they go way out back in the pasture behine the chicken pens no where where I will ever be going. Let him fight them off. He has been building pens for the Shamos today & has 2 separate ones since you said they can't be housed together. I haven't hear back from Suzann yet but Aaron will be ready when she get in touch with me.
Kim C, I like the gray Toulouse geese. I have had them before & they were not aggressive to me niether were my Embdens but the Chinese & Africans were &even the Sebastapools were alittle aggressive. I think If I got geese again for myself they would be the Embden. I feel inlove with thier big blue eyes. I need to call Craig Russel again too to see how thigs are progressing. Fall will be here before we know it.
Wolftracks,
Good for you getting so much done. I inch along like a slug getting little bits done here & there. I sold a cockerel & 5 pullets yesterday to a friend of Olivias Portuguese parents...poor Olivia said "I wish I was full blooded Portuguese likeAmanda".....LOL.My Blonde haired, blue eyed grand daughter looks more Swede than Portuguese. Her Portuguese is getting squeezed out...LOL I sold them a Light Sussex cockerel beuase they loved the look of mine, a L/S pullet, a Lavender AM pullet, a Splash Marans pullet & a mystery that I think might be a clean faced OE. They wanted pretty chickens & colorful eggs.I had no white egg layers big enough to go with those guys. Jules gave me Andalusian eggs that I hatched for future white egg layers when I discovered I had nothing that laid a white egg at all. She said hers are fantastic egg layers too all blues no blacks.
I have some blue/Black Silkie chicks & sold a few yesterday to a man & his son that drove down from Ripon. I should reallybget rid of the Silkies. They are the only bantam breed I have but they are just too cut.....LOL
I know what Olivia is going through. I don't look like I belong with any of my family. My sisters and brothers on my mom's side's dad was German, Dutch and Irish and on my dad's side ther mom was English. And then if you talk cousins I look a little like some, but none of my brothers and sisters look like them at all. My daughter Veronica get's asked about why she has her last name and if she's divorced all the time. Noooo...Her dad is from Mexico and lives there now and has blond hair and green eyes and now he even has a thick accent. LOL It wasn't that thick when we were teenagers.
OK I keep getting calls and walking away from this, so I should post before I'm completely out of the conversation.
