I can't see well in this picture but yes, if his leg is over his head it would cause him problems getting out.

They still tend to really struggle to get out when they're ready, though. This is how I knew my last foot over head duckling was ready to come out:

He was trying so hard to get out he pushed his foot out of the shell.

At this point it's pretty much a judgement call - you'll have to determine when you think they're ready.

Oh bless so he was really squirming and trying to push but just seemed bum was just coming out.... was worried he had been stuck like this for a long time so took more of the shell away carefully... and finally his head popped out... I have placed him back into incubator and left him... he is still very vocal and keeps waggling around, resring and trying again... I’m just going to leave him to finish off? Is that right? Xx

He is really wiggling and lifting his head up... but I think there is still tiny veins where the egg is still so? Am I right he needs to absorb them? My god I have never ever done anything like this in my life... love animals but this has been so scary! Just hoping this little fella will make it after getting this far? X

I can’t realky see in even with glasses on but can you see there is still little blood veins? Would I harm him if I accidentally hurt one?

That may just be residual. The big thing is whether his yolk is fully absorbed and his belly is closed up. Do you have a small flashlight you could shine down into the shell to check?

Oh god I’m never doing this again... it’s so stressful. He has pulled himself further out and tummy looks ok but can see some blood around him I don’t know how people cope .. xx
