Call duck eggs day 26 getting worried

Momma duck has at least 3 hatched so far. She's a first time mom too, so you can do it!

I've been following along too. I had a bit of stress with my call incubation this spring too. I had great help like you. Those babies are getting a good chance so just breathe you are getting there!

I am so sorry Was there any sign of what caused him to pass away?

No can’t see other than the bit of blood around him... I wonder if he struggled too much and pulled the cord or something... my husband will prob open the egg up and have a look tonight but I can’t... I’m really not cut out for this I have tried to open the other one up more but the gooey stuff is fairly hard across his eye with slight blood veins so have oil it and popped back in? Xx

Thank you Pyxis... I guess it just wasn’t meant to be. Shall i give it a couple of hours for veins and then try and pull the gooey stuff off over his eye? I have just made a small hole in the last one that is moving but membrane looks white and not 100% sure internally pipped but thinonit has as can see dark shadow in air sac ? Does anyone help them internally pip? I’m just worried as are approaching day 30 tomorrow? Xx

You can remove the membrane over the eye, I like to do that since it seems to me it would be very uncomfortable to have that over my eye.

I have helped them pip internally before but that's pretty tricky and is usually a last resort. Can you coat the membrane through the small hole? That will make it go clear and you can see what's going on.

Oh lovely... I wish I just had a momma duck... I can’t buy adult or ducking call ducks anywhere around here xx
