Call duck eggs.

Was your temp low?

regular sized ducks hatch on day 28 bantam eggs like calls hatch on day 26-27.

I am beginning to think my temp guage must be off. I candled them and they were wiggling up a storm but still have a little bit to go before pipping. DH almost just tossed them and I said NO, candle them first WHEW good thing. I know it has been colder temp wise in the house than normal and that affects the inside temp of the bator too. It has been running 100.5 most of the time inside the bator, does it need to be warmer than that for ducks? that is what we ran on the other ducks (pekin) that we hatched.

Maybe I am all wrong on figuring but I don't think so. I put them in on December 1st (that is penciled in on the end of the egg) so if they normally come earlier, they should have hatched the 27 or 28th (not counting the 1st) right?

I keep the temp about 37.4-37.6 c. for duck eggs. They should have hatched the 28th. You dont count the first day. now, if your temps were low, then that could be why they are taking longer. If you see lots of movement in the eggs, thats a good thing.

Yes, I was going to toss them if I did not see movement, but it was there. Wiggling and squiggling. I was like WHEW ok, they are at least still alive. I was really sick before candling. I know you should not candle this close to hatching but I could not take the suspense of not knowing if they were even alive.

I will keep you guys posted on how it goes. Maybe there will be a pip tonight LOL

Going to wallyworld tonight to get some more thermometers and check temps again
