Call duck eggs.

The heads need to be pulled out and the membrane needs to be moistened so they can kick free of it, or they are going to be stuck in there permanently.

Thank you skittlez. one is now most of the way ot if the egg but I think I still see the yolk say attched inside and there us blood vessels on the shell. The other is styled balled up in the egg and still has egg white around him. I am trying to be patient but it is hard because it is day 29!

One baby still hanging in there. detached lastnight and has a big round ring around her belly. I cant get her to drink the electrolytes. What do I do now? she is crawling around and holding her head up.

Keep trying with the electrolites. It may take a few tries. The red spot where she detached will go away in a day. That is normal. Try a few drops of the electrolite every 30 min or so. Even if she only drinks a drop or two. I got frustrated with one of mine, but after a few tries, I got a few drops in and it did make a difference. I did loose the one that bled and the one that took 4 days to kick free of the shell, but the other 4 are doing well. Try not to worry too much. Duckluck is right about pulling the head and wing out. It gives them the extra push they need to hatch. The one still in the egg needs to stay moist so she can push out of the shell when she is done absorbing the yolk. I had to wrap a couple eggs in wet paper towel to help with that. I also took the eggs out every 2 hours and took a little more shell away. Just a little so they didn't bleed. When they were 3/4 of the way out, I stopped taking shell off and let them do the rest. Moisture is critical untill they are fully out.

We need a pic of the new baby!

Thank you for all your help but one of the ducklings died Saturday and when I looked inside the egg almost all of the yolk was still there. The other detached all the way Sunday and was very week and I gave it electrolyts with vitamins and I thought she had a chance but then she passed yesterday. I don't think that they were ready to come out of the eggs yet. I talked to a breeder here in Colorado and she said she always leaves her eggs until the 30th day if they go that long and she has a 95% hatch rate. She said it is alot different here in Colorado because of the very dry air and almost no humidity. I dont know maybe I will try it again someday but it was very heart breaking and I can't just yet. By the way I bought 2 from the breeder, a Magpie call, and a blue with a white bib lloks like a blue swedish but a call. Thank you to all that helped!

I'm so sorry they didn't make it.

I started with 12 orphan eggs, 8 made it to lockdown. I lost one to blood loss, and I had to cull the one that took 4 days to absorb yolk and hatch. It wouldn't have made it anyway. 2 eggs quit. I ended up with 4 babies. Congrats on your new pair. I know how disheartning it is to loose them when you try so hard to help them.
