I went out for the final check on the animals. I could hear one of my call ducks with a raspy breathing. I have isolated her in the house after giving her a good bath.

Question is, what do I give her to get her over this. I have read you are not to give them medicated feed so what kind of medication can you give them and how much. She is a butterscotch call duck. 1 year old. I have a feeling with this cold weather we might have more of this. Please help.

I gave my 2 white call ducks aueromycin mixed in water for their respiratory infections. I treated them for a week then they were as good as new.

it is a powder. I mixed it in their drinking water. My ducks drank it straight. Once i mixed the medicated water with crumbles and fed it to a sick chicken. Either way should work. It was one tsp per gallon of water.

OHHH I have some of that at home....the medicated water additive....DERRRR I thougth you could not give that to ducks....that is why it did not cross my mind....Thanks!

well I will give it the old college try. I brought her in last night and let her swim in the lukewarm tub and get all clean and shiny and I think she felt a little better. Still raspy but not wheezing so bad.

Hi Jen,

I hope your duckie feels better soon.

oh yeah, i forget to answer back on these. She is doing much better after being in the house for 4 days and giving her the aueromycin. Thankfully, I had some on hand at home. I gave the rest of the calls some in their next water for good measure.

AND GUESS WHAT!!! They are laying eggs for me! I have gotten 10 eggs in the last 5 days from the call ducks! WOO HOOO!!! I was so happy. Especially in Nov,Dec! Everyone I have talked to have said calls only lay like 22 eggs a year and that is spring/summer. You can imagine my surprise!
