Agree with everyone else. Whatever you find first get it, even large breed females

Definitely go for another female, if that's what you already have. Runner females are really small. Welsh harlequins are also small and calm birds.

The duck I have right now is a male, would it still be ok to get more females? Also he is an adult.

Get started with her for now, what breed is she? I would keep looking until you have at least a group of three though

Other than searching Facebook groups or Craigslist, I’m not sure what else to suggest. Though I think @Overo Mare is in Virginia also, but could still be too far away.
I agree with getting another breed if necessary, or find eggs quick. I hatched a loner a couple years ago, and kept her inside with me until another set hatched. By that time, I still had to wait another week or so to put them fully together because of size difference. But at least she had company close by, they could hear each other, so take that into account.

And being a call drake, I wouldn’t hesitate much to give him any size female other breed. I wouldn’t get another drake unless it’s a Call.

I live in Virginia near the Richmond area.

I'm up near Harrisonburg. I don't have any adults for sale, and I don't think my new drake has quite figured out how to drake yet. Have you checked CL? I'll do a quick search.

I found exactly 0 calls on CL anywhere near VA. I have a friend in NC that has a Call bachelor flock she's trying to rehome. She said she'd be more than happy to help you with a buddy by driving half way. She's about 3.5 hours from Richmond.

If you plan on getting more calls in the near future why don't you get at least a couple females of an available breed right now so that they have each other and in the future your calls have each other?
