I also wouldn't worry about him not selling to you. Nobody else is going to pay $100 for ducks that look like that.

If you can stomach it get her a friend so she's not alone in quarantine. She'll be used to having a larger flock and you don't want her unnecessarily stressed while she's away from yours.

Wow, I’m just flabbergasted and horrified. Poor ducks.

I think the larger drakes with the long bills look like mallards to me, so any egg he retrieves from that pen could be a call/mallard mix.

It would be difficult not to want to rescue every last one of them.
