Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Oh it's baby time. How are they doing? Mine went into lock down tonight and I hate it. Thinking my 1 that has an air pocket on both ends of the egg is upside down too. I still see the veining in the middle but can't see any movement. I hope yours are doing ok.

The first one that I mentioned wasn't moving a couple days ago is dead. Looked like it quit several days ago.

The 2nd one is alive but hasn't pipped and I cannot see a clear outlined of its beak or really anything. Have no idea what I'm looking at. Checking every two hours and waiting for the veins to go down. Not rushing on it.

Third one rocks like crazy when I shine light on it. That one is doing great and I'm guessing it won't need help. Cross your fingers tomorrow morning at least this first one should be out, hopefully the 2nd too!!!

Oh good. Hoping for 2 :fl

I hope they both make it! Did you make a safe hole on the other side incase it is upside down? Im not sugesting any course of action here.I am still batting 0 on calls. I had an egg with air pockets. The little ducks bill had become traped under the yolk, and stuck good. It was curled up in a little ball leaving both ends empty. I got the. bill out without further dammage by holding at the base of the bill and pulled it out. Straight up from between the brest and yolk sac. It might have made it if the humidity had been right. Actually the yolk would have absorbed if i had it right. I am just saying, there is hope.

I don't know how to do that without hurting the duckling. It's alive so far but I still can't see where the beak is.

Lol. I'm good here. Will be a mix of colors. 23 is only 7 more than the last batch lol. They just grow up too fast :(

Babies are starting to get their feathers so as of right now I'm going to guess that there's 3 whites, 2 anconas, 2 black bibbed, 1 gray, 1 magpie and 1 penciled. We'll see how close I am in a couple more weeks lol

It's so fun guessing their colors! My Anconas are feathering out. One that was completely yellow now is feathering one with colors, I think it's a lavender or blue I won't know for sure until its quite a bit older. Can't figure it's a blue though because a younger one that's definitely blue had clear coloring on it when hatched. So I don't know if it'll just have bigger spots, or if the older one is lavender (which would be AWESOME).

Still waiting to hear on the blue fawn pieds and magpie, so what would happen if I bred the blue fawn pied male to the black magpie female? My mind is going nuts. I still haven't heard back from Holderread. This money is burning a hole in my pocket LOL. Figured the blue fawn pieds and magpie would be worth the shipping.

That pair would throw all magpies more than likely. Some blue, some black I would think

Where is lori? Is today the hatch date? Did you check the airsac on the little end? Anything you can locate is a plus compairing it to the position it should be in. The head and bill are usualy under a wing or foot.

Dipping is ready to hatch time basically.  When you look into an egg you will see the air cell in a perfect circle.  When they are getting ready to internally pip, it's usually 24 hours but the perfectly round circle will take a fall, it falls to one side.  So now your circle is no longer a circle it will be at a slant.  This is when they will break through that membrane and get some air.  If they don't then they die..

It kind of has to do with the growing of the chick but the real meaning is internal pipping time.  So it gets all squoshed inside that shell it can't move any more lungs are being pressed so they have to break through that membrane to get to the air cell and take there first breath before it's to late.  So the dipping is basically enough air for them to  expand those lungs to get ready to break out of jail.  That's why you can hear them peeping all of a suddenly because there poor little lungs aren't being pressed on any more and they can expand them to talk to you.. crazy how things work.

Thanks!
Now it makes alot of sence.
