Do the parents help the little ones out of the shell if they have difficulty hatching due to small beak?
They shouldn't. Duck parents are the experts at hatching their own eggs usually. We try to mimic what they do but nobody knows better than they do.
small beaks hinder them in any setting.I was referring to this, lol? I thought the small beaks is what hinders them in artificial incubation; that wouldn't change if a broody incubates them, right?
not true. ducks will not help their eggs hatch. so they very well may have issues hatching. just keep a close eye on them. check the eggs daily despite the protests of the hens. just do not upset them enough to break them from the nest, if the eggs have not hatched in reasonable time then they need moved into an incubatorThey shouldn't. that's what I was saying.nothing about their difficulties would change just because the parents are incubating them, or so I thought.small beaks hinder them in any setting.
they were bred to be this way . they never started off this small.
mankind has created the difficulties.
