Call Ducks Finally Hatched

I was referring to this, lol? I thought the small beaks is what hinders them in artificial incubation; that wouldn't change if a broody incubates them, right?
small beaks hinder them in any setting.
they were bred to be this way . they never started off this small.
mankind has created the difficulties.

They shouldn't. Duck parents are the experts at hatching their own eggs usually. We try to mimic what they do but nobody knows better than they do.
not true. ducks will not help their eggs hatch. so they very well may have issues hatching. just keep a close eye on them. check the eggs daily despite the protests of the hens. just do not upset them enough to break them from the nest, if the eggs have not hatched in reasonable time then they need moved into an incubator

You guys are also talking about specifically breeding for show quality birds. Clousert and I don't do that. So our birds should have no issue brooding their own eggs.

I don't think that clousert was saying that ducks would help their eggs hatch. She is simply saying a broody hen is going to have a higher hatch rate than an incubator, because an incubator is artificial, and can never actually mimic Mother Nature. This is typical of several breeds of waterfowl. Call ducklings main issue from my experience is unabsorbed yolk. This is usually from a humidity problem, but I've also noticed shipped eggs are more problematic than my personal eggs. I have never had a shipped call duck egg hatch on its own, but my personal eggs right now we are 3 out of 7 and I haven't helped one yet.
