Yes the first time I did it and it worked was a valdalia onion, the past few times I've done it with red onions.

So it doesn't seem to matter what kind. Good to know, I have used the Red but was wondering about the other types..

Ps, I am planning on sending you eggs too, going to wait until my blue pencilled ducks come in though, and my magpie is laying.
