Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Just a few pics of the MANY calls that I now have, lol. They are SO addicting!

I have:
11 whites (6 adults, 5 juvies, 1 pair of juvies are for sale)
1 blue splash pied (for sale)
4 blue pied (2 adults, 2 juvies)
2 blue "ancona" (both juvies)
4 blue fawn pied (adults)
4 black "ancona" adults, 6 juvies (a few of the juvies are for sale)
2 newly hatched chocolate pied
1 newly hatched silver (?) it's the little duckling pictured above
1 snowy and 1 blue fawn (juvies, both for sale)
1 blue bibbed juvie (for sale)
2 pairs of adult silkies. I was AMAZED at how well these laid this year and how high their fertility was!

My calls are all finished laying for the season but it was a very productive one!

I'm sure I missed a few. I tend to easily lose count!

They're adorable. I know what you mean about losing count though. I now have

3 white
6 gray
2 apricot silver
5 pied
3 blue pied
2 blue magpie
1 snowy
3 pastel
1 buff
3 blue fawn
1 blue bibbed
2 tan/brown that I'm unsure of still (both juvies, 1 light 1 dark, in the bottom right of the picture i posted above)
And 5 in the brooder (1 silver ?, 1 blue pied, 1 blue fawn, 2 I'm unsure on- 1 tan with white spots and 1 white with dark spots- Will have to see how they start to feather out in a couple weeks)

I have 3 times that many chickens also lol

Hope you were able to get some babies from the eggs I sent. I'm hoping that I'll be able to get some silkie eggs from you when they start laying again. My father being in the hospital really made things quite the wreck here. It's times like this that make me question my decisions in life about staying single all these years. Most of the time it's great but there are times when an extra set of hands would help lol. Hope all else is well in your neck of the world.

Hi every one!
My ducks are doing great! It has been so hot, that everyone stoped laying. But the past week has been rainy and cool. I got 1 duck egg. I put it under by broody coachin. Other than that I have been hatching banti chicks. I have been getting the smallest chikens I have ever seen! Hope you are all doing well. And your ducks too!

Glad to hear all is well with you and your feathered kids. What kind of banties are you hatching?

OMG, MAGPIES????? AHHHHHHHHH OVER LOAD OVER LOAD, I'M GOING MAGPIE CRAZY, AHHHHHHHHH SOMEONE HELP MEEEEEEEEEE...

I am hatching Cochin and dutch banties. I am trying to breed each generation smaller. and mixing in banties with orange and light cream colors. just a little project for me. Hatching out eggs becomes an obsession. Just gotta hatch something.

I found that the Australian spotted ducks are really broody. I hatched 3 hens this year. Next year I can put eggs under all 4.

When it gets hot again I got a portable swamp cooler. I will put it in the duck house. Maybe I could get more call duck eggs.

Hi I have a question. At the beginning of this thread everyone is talking about candleing for internal piping and Then helping the ducklings out. I was just curious how you candle for internal piping when the eggs are on lockdown? I know it might sound like a funny question but my Calls are on day 25 and one has internally pipped. But how will I know when the others do since I can't open the incubator. Oh it is a Rcom20.

You can candle them when they are in lockdown to check for internally pip, the MOST important time that you do NOT want to candle is when they have already external peep because then you can cause them to shrink wrap and IF they have already externally peep no need to do anything for at least 24 hours.

Usually you can hear them as well, it's a very small peeping but you can hear them. You can also NOT candle them just take the egg and put it to your ear and tap on the shell, to see if you hear any noises.

But If I was you, I would wait until the due date has come and gone before attempting anything.
