Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Thanks so much. Thankfully I haven't. What would you scrub them with? As of right now all I've done is gently, and I mean gently, wiped them off with a paper towel. So, they are still a little bit dirty. Not much. A little bit though.

That's perfect, if you wash them, then they are accessible to getting bacteria in them, they have a covering that protects them and when washing them your just taken that protective covering off...

I wouldn't even do that much, honestly. A scrubber brush could scratch the egg and force bacteria down into the pinholes. A moist paper towel gentle wips is fine, but NOT a scrubber brush! I've hatched eggs that had a tiny bit of dried up poop on 'em. It's better than the alternative.

Agree on the scrubbing, but I would not use a moist paper towel

You shouldn't wash or scrub or use any water on an egg if you plan on incubating, they are covered to protect them from letting bacteria in, if use wash them you taken not only taken the messy poop off but also the protecting covering, then you have opened pores that will allow bacteria inside the egg killing anything that grows. Poop doesn't harm the eggs although it's an unpleasant sight, your best option is to just wipe it off with a dry paper towel..

So, I gave this teacher guy I know some eggs to hatch because all my incubators were full and they are due today. I emailed him to ask him to candle and he told me that all eggs were infertile. I have just as many males as females (I know I need to do something about that) and I have had only ever had one infertile egg. Whats up? He had eggs in turner wrong but that shouldn't change anything should it? The eggs were only 4 days old when I gave them to him......

They may have just died and the veins have decomposed. :/
