Call Ducks Finally Hatched

I think they were dead when they dumoed in the dumster. I just think he made some stupid mistake and wont fess up to it. I really don't think he has bthe heart to dump baby ducklings nin the dumpster alive

Cali, I really don't think this guy's actions are defensible in any way, shape, or form. Every step of the way he's made horrible mistakes and outright lied about them. And it all ended with him dumping living, near full-term baby ducklings into a dumpster to die.

Still wanna stand up for your fellow teacher?
LOL...amy...calm down there my friend

I don't actually think he purposefully "Dumped live, near full term duckilings in the dumpster to die!" The eggs were most likely not alive, as he did not do what he needed to do..did not want to take ownership of his actions and tried to hide his mistakes to avoid further confrontation. Was this right? No I don't think so but to each his own. Everyone has to live with their own conscience at the end of the day.

That being said, It really has nothing to do with "standing up for a fellow teacher" We are not a secret club I do know nothing about this person. YES I am giving info from the classroom perspective of which YOU CLEARLY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT given your comments! Although it is sad, it is true not all teachers take incubating or care in doing so seriously. Those who know me on this forum know that I do, but you are obviously not one of those people. I do feel people who are donating eggs should know this,
check out the people they are giving eggs to and offer support/guidance as 1are careless8angovem did. If the teacher resists, most likely they are not a good candidate to donate to. You are entitled to your opinion, as I am mine, but you may want to curb the rude tone as I did not direct my comment to you in the first place, Free speech here my friend!
alittle harsh amy

i too dont agree with what the teacher has done (personally i hate the guy ) but cali is just giving her opinion

Thanks! We are all entitled! She is passionate about her opinions, I give her that...LOL!!!

@18angovem ...again so sorry for your experience

Not all teachers in the world are careless

I'm not as convinced. Seeing as you said the photo you saw showed a perfectly viable, healthy developing embryo, he essentially tossed out those babies like garbage simply because of his own idiocy and arrogance, refusing to listen to you. He needs to be held accountable.

Oh the egg looked fine. I didn't see any embryos. if I do find out that he threw away alive ducklings I am going to give him %&$# for this! I am just spo confused. I have a meeting bweith him on fri. To talk abpout this.

OMG @Lacrystol and @18angovem....following your teacher drama! Faulty eggs...seriously????LOL Unfortunately, he does not sound like he is being truthful with you...maybe a little defensive if he feels he made a mistake? Was he incubating them for you or were you expecting to get the ducklings back after the hatch? The reason I ask is if this is not the case, he may not understand why you are on his case about the eggs and the outcome. Many teachers who begin hatching have NO CLUE what they are doing and are learning as they go(myself included) and will make mistakes

So if you are donating them to teachers for classroom science, you will have to expect some mistakes to be made OR that they may not take the care in incubating that you, I or others in the BYC world would do....sad but true!

Not that I am defending his actions, but as a classroom teacher, it is VERY challenging to hatch in a classroom. Most classroom teachers do not have control over room temps as temperature is controlled centrally by most districts
roll.png
Most districts also turn off the heat/air everyday at the end of the school day so room temps are not consistent. I have also had the unfortunate experience on having my bator unplugged by the janitor so he could vacuum
th.gif
(now I have a HUGE sign that has a stop sign, says stop, do not unplug, we are waiting to hatch!!!! LOL) . I also have had hatches that are a complete fail for reasons I did not know since I followed the same procedures as previous years that were successful.

Just something to keep in mind. I try to learn from each experience and improve as I go but not all teachers are as committed as we would like them to be, so I would be checking out who I give my eggs to before I offer them.

I have been hatching in my classroom for years and LOVE the experience for myself and the kids!!!! And yes...I did become a chicken owner because I fell in love with the fluffy bundles of joy

So sorry for your experience
