Call Ducks Finally Hatched

OMG  @Lacrystol
and @18angovem....following your teacher drama! Faulty eggs...seriously????LOL  Unfortunately, he does not sound like he is being truthful with you...maybe a little defensive if he feels he made a mistake? Was he incubating them for you or were you expecting to get the ducklings back after the hatch? The reason I ask is if this is not the case, he may not understand why you are on his case about the eggs and the outcome. Many teachers who begin hatching have NO CLUE what they are doing and are learning  as they go(myself included) and will make mistakes :(  So if you are donating them to teachers for classroom science, you will have to expect some mistakes to be made OR that  they may not take the care in incubating that you, I or others in the BYC world would do....sad but true!

Not that I am defending his actions, but as a classroom teacher, it is VERY challenging to hatch in a classroom. Most classroom teachers do not have control over room temps as temperature is controlled centrally by most districts    Most districts also turn off the heat/air everyday at the end of the school day so room temps are not consistent.  I have also had the unfortunate experience on having my bator unplugged by the janitor so he could vacuum:th (now I have a HUGE sign that has a stop sign, says stop, do not unplug, we are waiting to hatch!!!! LOL)  . I also have had hatches that are a complete fail for reasons I did not know since I followed the same procedures as previous years that were successful. :hit Just something to keep in mind. I try to learn from each experience and improve as I go but not all teachers are as committed as we would like them to be, so I would be checking out who I give my eggs to before I offer them.

I have been hatching in my classroom for years and LOVE the experience for myself and the kids!!!! And yes...I did become a chicken owner because I fell in love with the fluffy bundles of joy :love  So sorry for your experience :hugs

I know I know, I would really think he needs to check the wiring on those eggs. Lol

Well it looks as though he lied and most likely theybdied a few days ago or something ad he doesn't want totell me... H ewas going to hatch them out and then give the ducklings back to me. he os supposed to know all about birds and stuff because he is the state president of the pa ornothjology society. I think that he just has ego problems and saying theeggs wrre faulty helps his ego. Lacyratol tinks heis keeping the duckling for himself. Lol. (Sorry about typos I am on my tablet )

I would seriously be at that school to see if that bator is still on, If it is why the heck would a man have a bator on when he threw the eggs in a dumpster, you just can't trust anyone, it's best to see it for yourself.

And as far as his bator, well he did take the time to wipe it down but not properly clean it.

DID YOU SERIOUSLY TYPE "tinks". I swear I bath all the time, my ducks may tink but I dont!!!!! Hahahahahahahaha

I'm not as convinced. Seeing as you said the photo you saw showed a perfectly viable, healthy developing embryo, he essentially tossed out those babies like garbage simply because of his own idiocy and arrogance, refusing to listen to you. He needs to be held accountable.

NO NO you misunderstood, the outside of the egg was perfectly fine. Not the inside, there was no picture of the candled egg. I questioned the egg though..

He's on the ORNITHOLOGICAL BOARD?!
he.gif

From the pics that I saw, there is one perfect egg this egg actually looks like it's been washed, if that's the case then the little guy had no chance, but then there's a second pic of all the eggs, now here's the real picture, all the eggs were dirty, they all had some spots of dirt on them where the first pic, no dirt at all. However, once I zoomed in I noticed there was no water in the bator? Which was odd to me because I could have sworn I read everything was full! Then I seen the dirty bator, bacteria. In fact it kind of looked like maybe some mold growing. The funny part about that is it was directly under an egg. It looked like the egg had pooped. Hahahaha. No not poop fallen off the egg, it looks like the egg pooped. Hahahahaha

Don't take offense of the eggs being dirty. They should be dirty, not cleaned/washed, this would make sense as to why nothing is showing signs of life if he washed them..

So I'm wondering if the picture with all the eggs in it showing them dirty, was a pic when he first put the eggs in and perhaps one day he decided to clean them by washing them all..after wards??

Because that would make sense to me since I thought I read there was no water in the bator when he first started..and the pic with all the eggs there was no water...

That's all I have to say on the subject, now let's get back to this "tinks" problem of mine. Lol

I'm still waiting for milles and paints :)

OH I've added more Milles to that coop and I got rid of papa, he was shooting off to much white. So we went with someone with more red spots...

My paints??? But I have showgirls in there and you don't like them. Maybe I can separate a couple so you'll just have the paints and no showgirls. I have a coop now that is going to be for couples only. Lol looks like the psints get to test it out first hahahshs
