Call Ducks Finally Hatched

This is the best underside picture I could get of him :)

So, if anyone wants magpies I recommend Freddie Gregory in Kentucky, Chrystal Calls in Iowa, and Learycow in Maine. All have great colored magpies! Chrystal call can be expensive though. Freddie can be hard to contact, and Learycow doesn't always have any available.

@Lacrystol I appoligize for interrupting your thread and maybe I didn't read clearly enough, but are you saying you think duck eggs should not be used with automatic turners? I'm on day 2 with 14 Swedish ducks (and 4 turkeys). I'm using an automatic turner.

Another question for your duck knowledge.... I have 3 older ducks on my pond. After all this snow and cold, we went to check on them and they are nowhere to be found. The pond is frozen and snow covered. I'm worried sick. What's the chances that they found a place to hole up and stay clear of predators and weather this storm?
It appears that I am maybe 2-1/2 hours south of you.

NO I am not saying that at all, Ducks can be on an automatic turner as long as they are in a laying down position and NOT in the upright position. and UPRIGHT I mean the larger end up and smaller end down. You can tape your eggs to the turner, this is how I lay mine down. I lay it flat over the hole and use scotch tape on each side to hold it in place, so that when it turns they don't fall off.

Ok they sound like they ran for cover, have they showed there appears yet? If not could it be possible they took off? Not to many preditors right now with this harsh cold weather. I think they are all taken cover, they too can't handle this negative degree weather. LOL

Ok, gotcha! I have them upright. Ugh!! I'm just in day 4, so would you suggest I lay them down asap, or would I be better to wait till day 7, when I was going to candle/weigh them for the first time?? If I do it this evening, I could go ahead and candle them too

I'm trying the weight method, and will adjust my humidity up or down according to weight loss.

Haven't been able to check on my older ducks yet, but I am sure praying they are nearby. They are at another property of mine that is about 45 minutes away from my home. I don't go there every day, and with the storm we had, we haven't been there in a few days. Fingers are still crossed though.

Here they are...

Once you see development then Lay them down, Immediately. At 4 days you may not see that yet, if you are using your phone for candling wait for day 5 and you should definitely see development, then I would say lay them down.
