Call Ducks Finally Hatched

@Lacrystol So, you do think I should mist all my eggs in the Hovabator once a week, even though I already fill the center trough with warm water twice a week? Then for lock down, both the center and outer troughs. My worry and concern doing them both, is that it could be too much a high humidity for my little baby ducklings? I didn't mist or sponge with my Mallards at all and they had a 92% hatch rate. What do you think would be best for them?

Well I would do one or the other, you don't want to do both because your adding to much water and you'll end up with sticky babies, and that stuff is NOT fun to mess with.

It's easier to get a baby unshrink wrapped then it is to get them free from being sticky. If you mist them just give them a Light misting, Open the Bator and shoot the spray up towards the ceiling and let it fall down.. Do you know where your humidity is at right now?

no but they can walk away is what im talking about. thats why i said run away not flyaway.

If it's a girl, I would say probably to go be a mommy but if it's a boy, hum, they usually don't leave each other's side. Now a Fox will just take it away. They grab them by the neck and hall the off, you would not see any kind of struggle, or feathers or anything.

I believe filling the middle trough puts the humidity at 50-55 but you said your doing it twice a week so twice a week your jacking up that humidity versus the rest of the time when the humidity is probably very low.

If you mist I would do it on the days that you are not filling the troughs, if your filling them Monday's and Thursday then I would spray once on Wednesday. Etc.. All depends on what day your filling them.

I don't know where the humidity is at. I have never kept up with it percentage wise, just the temp. As you know, with the Hovabator, it says nothing about misting/sponging. I do fill the center trough with warm water though on Tuesday's and Saturday's around 6pm every week. Then for lock down I will double up, filling the center and outer troughs both with warm water to raise the humidity. So, I think I'm going to avoid misting cause I definitely don't want any of my babies to get sticky. Do you agree that is the best plan?

So not call ducks but my emu eggs are in my old stryafoam incubator while I get my fridgebator all set up and the temp in there has fluctuated greatly! It is supposed to be 97 for emus and at one point was at 93 and at another 104. Do you think they are ok? They only stayed at those high/low temps for maybe 2 hrs tops.....
