Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Just Styrofoam bators are not the best bators. You don't see expensive brinsea or anything made of styrafoam. It can harbor bacteria and dent or break easily. While with plastic a quick wipe and its clean and it is hard to dent..... Just my two cents....

Styrofoam bators are NOT bad news! I love my Hovabator! Speak for yourself but not generally!

Amanda, please calm down, girl! Yikes!

Foam bators are typically not the best quality, especially if they're still-air like his is. Double especially if they're older like his is! That doesn't mean you can't have a good hatch rate with a foam bator, that's been proven, otherwise no one would ever buy 'em. But it can make getting a good hatch rate more difficult, especially over time since styrofoam isn't the sturdiest of materials, it will break down over time. And I repeat, even more so if it's still air! But in Angovem's case he's had bad hatches with it in the past, and now he's having history repeat itself with the emu eggs I don't think it's hyperbolic to state that in this instance, the bator is faulty. Okay? Can you please put the pitchfork down now?

Oh, by the way Goose/Mitch, building on our last convo a few pages back, I got more proof that bunnies are evil! :p See, what'd I tell ya? Hehe!

@Amykins Lol, pitchfork? What the world? You've got quite an imagination there... Mine is still air and mine is also 6-8 years old, it continues to works wonderfully! You can speak for yourself or from experience, I can as well though. And my still air styrofoam Hovabator has been nothing but successful for me!

Hello everyone. I am not new to BYC, but have never been on this thread before. I am looking to purchase some fertile call duck eggs. I prefer color, but will buy whites if that is what is offered. If you have any call eggs available, please PM me, as I will not likely stay active on this thread. Thank you in advance.

Three eggies are going strong, tossed out the three clear eggies. So we're off to a good start, I know I can't get my hopes up too high but maybe I really can hatch all three eggs!

I don't know where the humidity is at. I have never kept up with it percentage wise, just the temp. As you know, with the Hovabator, it says nothing about misting/sponging. I do fill the center trough with warm water though on Tuesday's and Saturday's around 6pm every week. Then for lock down I will double up, filling the center and outer troughs both with warm water to raise the humidity. So, I think I'm going to avoid misting cause I definitely don't want any of my babies to get sticky. Do you agree that is the best plan?

I agree, I think you have plenty of water in there and I'm afraid if you start misting your just going to cause more problems for yourself and those babies.

we shouldnt have any foxes, its a boy by the way, and everytime we did have a fox there were but loads of feathers everywhere.
Im really just in denial, i just really hope he's okay but thats unrealistic.

Has he showed up? My fox would leave NO signs at all, the only way we knew he was around, is he got brave and would show up during the day and just mossy right up to them.
