Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Whatta cutie!!! :)

"Hey, there's a colorful dot, better try to eat it!" Oh hey, there's another colorful dot, better try to eat it! Oh, hey..."

Yeah, I miss having lil' fuzzbutts in the house. :p I'm still constantly worried about this clutch...part of me feels like I should have tried to put more eggs in the Rcom. It has indents for three eggs, but if I'd put in the hatching tray and hand-turned them I probably could have fit in at least one or two more and there'd have been fewer eggs dead from that awful second bator. Hindsight really sucks that way. :/

you are doing your best, and no wonder it's the call duck challenge. So now you are looking at 2 possibilities now? God, I hope it goes well for you. This whole thing for you all is so tense.

I couldn't agree more. I would NEVER crack open or remove ANY, until I was 110% certain it was infertile or had passed away. I can't believe she has a clutch of 9 outside! When will my little girl start to set?!?! I've got her first 6 in the incubator! These are her other 9 and I'm leaving them outside for her to hatch! :)

She may not set right now. My calls usually only go broody and set once a year. I have a few that never have. They still lay just about every day but have no interest in hatching them.

@clousert What time of year do yours typically set? She seems so concerned with her eggs though, that's what leads me to think she's gathering a clutch to hatch. Every morning when she has laid me another, it is always with all her others in her little nesting box. I'll see her peep into their coop to check on them regularly and she cleans them every day as well.
