Call Ducks Finally Hatched

No! lol Chibs and Tiggy were much more vocal last night though. I played the sound clips and I think they both still sound like boys, but they are getting louder, so I'm still not sure. Did notice a very slight curl to Chibs' tail feather. Tiggy's is still flat... ugh!

Took this pic just for you Julie.

I wish Tiggy didn't have the mud on his bill, I need to get a better one, but it looks like his nail has been intentionally painted black. Just the nail. Hey, its nail polish lol Juice's is the same way. And you can kinda see the curl on Chibs' tail feather in the background....

Eeeeeeeee, I love the full frontal face shot of Tiggy duck. Note the dark webs and the soft looking breast with the white. And note Tiggy's puffy cheeks. You're killing me with this one. Thank you for taking it! Chibs' orange legs and webs and Tiggy's look green? Are they?

I see the black on Tiggy's nail. So if Tiggy's tail is flat and a drake feather has not developed yet and you have heard 'his' voice getting louder to reiterate what you said, he could possibly be a she? So obviously your birds are fully feathered. And does that mean it still takes time for their sex characteristics to fully reveal themselves?

But then Juice and Opie are clearly girls though. Aren't all 4 of your kids about the same age?

Here are some video I found:
These are using a crop needle, not a plastic tube.

This one uses a tube like I use

Great instructional videos Kathy. Thank you for posting. They make sense to me now. And it's nice to see that the birds don't get hideously stressed having the tube put down their throat.

How is your little one with the splinted neck doing with his feedings and overall health?

I knew you'd love it. Tiggy's legs are more gray-ish to black, but does seem to be a hint of greenish in there. I'm beginning to wonder if they aren't all 4 girls! By 10 weeks, I thought I would know for sure! I think they finally finished molting, and I can tell they are maturing, so I think it will all be revealed very soon.

I hatched all 4 of them together. Juice and Tiggy hatched on Saturday, Opie on Sunday and Chibs on Monday... 10 weeks ago.

I take soooo many pictures... but here's another pretty one from yesterday.

And a group shot

The first time I tube feed. I cried like a baby, my rooster was so cool about it but I wasn't emotionally. Now it does not seem to bother me if I need to do it.

It's very hard to tube feed and cry at the same time.

OK, so I'm down to 5 Eggs, Things aren't looking good, I contact the person and asked why are these guys dying off so quickly? What am I doing wrong? This is very buzzaree because I can't even get them to internally pipped. But of course, I kind of knew what the probably was before I asked but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

She tells me that calls take 28-29 days, WHAT? When did that change????? So I don't think I have calls, I think I have something else and apparently I locked these guys down to early which would probably explain the suddenly losses. I was NOT trying to get a different breed, so I'm very disappointed in this hatching.

We will give these 5 eggs until Saturday now as there new due date and see what happens, I don't think they will make it because I'm losing one to two per day. I mean within a week, I have lost 6 babies so far. Most of them were sticky, but I'm debating now if that was even the issue in the first place? I knew I would loose some because I could see TONS of empty spaces caused by the High humidity but some were Totally Filled up and shouldn't have had a problem at least to internally pipping.. But since I locked them down so early perhaps, PERHAPS, this is why they are dying off. Will see what we have tonight..

Here is how I track weights on peachicks:

The black line is Crookie, the green line is the small white one. Not tubing Crookie enough, so I will increase his feedings. Will also start tubing little white and see if I can get her to make some better gains.
