Make the safe hole on the big end you have to candle it soo that you hit the air cell and not the chick..NO, do not touch the membrane, SHELL only and DO not peal the shell, Just make a tiny little hole. It should not be any bigger than the tip of a pen or pencil.. Small your not making a hole to see the baby, your simply making a hole so that oxygen can get in the shell and the chick will head towards the hole and break the membrane to breathe.Ok thanks. I know what It is but I'm not sure where to make the incision. There seems to e a shadow towards the lower part of the blunt end of the egg. I'm guessing that's the head. Do I make the hole near the head or in the middle? Also do I just tear away at the shell and leave the inner membrane alone or will I have to rip it if the chick hasn't done so?
