Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Just lock them up at night, less nipping will happen. They are totally bored being locked up in the tub at 4 weeks. They should already be out. I let all mine out at 3 weeks.. Your silly by not letting them be ducks.
lol, i know im crazy! but after my chloe got eaten im scared to death! i bet they look like tasty little niblets from the sky!.... we got them out, put them in a HUGE house and they have a pretty good sized pen for when we are not out there.... my call drake i got last keeps trying to beat them up.... but they fight back pretty good! they won't swim tho.... i even installed a garden tub up by the porch for them with rock steps to get in and out and they won't go in,.... i know once they start swimming it's ON!

my call drake and the blue swede love the new pool tho!

They sound afraid. I am confused, do you have a drake in there bothering them? if so, remove him or them, they won't enter somewhere if they feel threatened.

i think i have 7 girls and one boy!!!! how totally awesome is that!!!! the boy is a mean one tho....he's nipping the girls wings and making them bleed and pulling their feathers out....this behavior has won him an all expense paid trip into a cage all by himself where he can hear the girls but can't see or hurt them....he's been in time out all day and as soon as i put him back he nipped at lydia and made her bleed....so he's spending the night alone...when i get home from work i'll try to put them together again....they will be 4 weeks monday....can i put them outside yet??? i think there is just too much duck and not enf tub these days and they are all getting a bit pissy about it....they will have more room in the house we built them and they have a chain link area outside until they get big enf to free range during the day with the other call duck and the blue swedish...what do you think??? too young to go out yet?? we have about the same climate...

If you have secure night time housing they should be fine. I have some young ones again, the one is less than 3wks it's outside daily, i cannot leave them overnight but for day, they are out there, they need to be, inside sucks for ducks past night, no fresh air, bugs, stimulation etc.

How old are they?? When they are little they will NOT swim, it takes a while, one thing I learned is they don't like to go up and in, so you have to have the pool down. We buried our kidding pool so that it is even with the ground, now they can just slide right in. it will take a while before they learn to go UP and in. Something baby ducks prefer not to do.

So I would start them out in the bath tub, let them get use to the water, THEY WILL go CRAZY in the tub. LOL...

Quote: they are about 8 weeks....they did love the tub....got a bath every night in the house, but i can't get them to go into the creek, even with me sitting in there! they won't go in their pool...but they do have to go up and over the side....i put a bunch of sturdy rocks they could hop on to get in and out...and i found lydia in it last night but she looked like she got there quite by accident and looked scared to death!....she did get out on her own when i stepped in to help her, but my other ducks can't even wait to get the pool filled after dumping and cleaning!....i need to face it... i have fraidie cat ducks! lol

i didn't mist mine....turned them end over end 3x a day, kept humidity around 55 and temp at about 100 but i used a still air incubator.... i also moved them all around the bator so no one was in a hot or cold spot all the time.... good luck! its stressful for the next 26 days, but sooooo worth it!
