Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Well this little one is doing great he's completely out and yapping. Lol

He's sooo tiny. He's two days early and because of all the noise another is working his way out

What a little sweetie. I hope he does okay!
When I had to help one of my upside down guineas I pulled at the outer membrane with shell and it pulled on the inner and it gushed blood. I was like no no no and took a damp paper towel and held it there. I thought I had killed him. But he was fine. I hope ur little guy is too!
These little buggers like to jerk at our heart strings and make us pull our hair out!

SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE On YOUR WAY FOR SUCCESS, WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO

now for those that are stressing over there little ducks, check out the mess I'm dealing with right now

1000

Came home to find my little tiny bantam struggling, yep he was at the smaller end of the egg trying to escape. Needless to say he would have never made it. So I gave him a helping hand...

Nothing more stressful then having a baby try to hatch upside down, once we got the head out boy OH BOY, let the talking begin.... Lol he chirped and chirped like crazy, I'm not sure if he was happy or chewing me out!! Lol.

Thought for sure I was going to lose him because as I was helping, he started bleeding really good and with him being so tiny, it would not take much for him to lose a lot of blood and end up dying..

So with a little bit of pressure to make it stop, now we won't shut up.. Lol. But as long as he chirps I'm happy because I know he'll be ok...so chirp chirp chirp away little fellower...

Awww. Poor little guy. He's so cute. Thank god you were there to help him. Glad he's doing well.

he's completely out of the shell and completely quiiet now. He's resting.. Lol he's got about three others making noises now. I'll send a pic once he fluffs up right now he looks like a little tiny wet rat without a tail. They are so much more cuter when dried and fluffed up lol..

Use a dry paper towel next time helps stops it quicker, a wet one could cause the bleeding to flow more and quicker, a dry one helps dry it up and makes a blood clot...

If you ever cut yourself and put your finger under water it doesn't stop it just keeps it from closing up and your cut will just flow flow flow, But applying pressure with something dry will cause it to make a blood clot in which is what u want it to do..

I have 9 eggs due the next few days. Had my first hatch today. Probably a magpie/pekin mix. Anyway, ive read that you should keep them in for several hours before moving them (I have a brooder separate from my incubator and dont want to move the duckling yet since there is just 1). How long until I introduce food and water. Poor thing hatched about two hours ago and im wonderinf if he'll be fine for the next 8 or so hours as I sleep...

Never move them right away, give him at least 24 hours to dry off, he'll be OK. They can go without food or water the MAX is 3 days, however, I usually introduce mine to food once the 24 hours is up. Some will eat some will not but not to worry. If he is aloner get a stuffed animal until you can get a friend for him. Ducks do not like to be alone. They need that companion, I use a three legged stuff bunny, all my chicks love it.

Also remember to not allow him to swim for 1 week and even then they will need to be supervised.

Oh and one final and important thing, THEY ARE MESSY, WELCOME TO OUR WORLD.. LOL

We have 18 beating hearts this morning out of 24 SHIPPED eggs  . And still only on day 5. I never would have imagined. YAY for babies :) I hope they all make it to term :fl :ya :bow
