Call Ducks Finally Hatched

I may have some more early hatchers again. I can already see a couple of the babies right at the top of the air space, trying to pip internally just like my first little one. They keep pushing the membrane up into the air space where I can see it. The others look like they're right on schedule. Turning stops tonight at day 22 so they can get into position. I will turn them once more when I get home tonight and then that's it :) Soon my little Lily will have friends :D

Oh my goodness exciting!!!! I can see life in a couple of mine already so I am SSSOOO excited for them!!!

I have a Styrofoam  incubator and a turner. The eggs go in with the fat ends up. It shifts them side to side, keeping the air sacs facing up. I found a few sites recommending this for shipped eggs. The air sacs were kind of wobbly. I that is called a" loose air sac". I culled the ones that were completely detached before I set them. temp. is 99, humidity is 50. I can see movement in all 7 eggs. One of the air sacs does not seem to be decreasing as it should. This is day 19. The thermometer and humidity Gage are at the same level as the eggs.

I have another incubator set up  for  lock down set at 96.6. Should I lay them flat, or in a little cup with the fat end pointed slightly up? I know the temp is a little low but I didn't mess with anymore to avoid temp swings.

Thanks for checking all this! I hope I am at least close in this!

Sounds pretty good!

Let lacrystol give her advice but I think if I remember correctly you want to try to keep them in the position that they've been in the whole time.

Oh! I just found your other post.

1. I taped them flat on the turners like in #2 lazy method The air sacks aren't loose anymore.
2. took some water out to lower humidity.
3. Incubator cooled down while taping the eggs, so I am waiting for it to get up to desired temp again.
4. I am an idiot, I should have looked at #2 earlier.
5. I changed the due date to day 26, lock down to day 22.
Thanks!
And thank-you Clousert, four welcome and advise as well.

Well I learned a valuable lesson today. Went home crying lol silly me. Offered to pick up some birds to save a "friend" (bought buttons from her and we've talked a lot since then and met at auctions) money on shipping.

Long story short the lady that has the birds is nothing more than a common bully (which I don't take well) she sent me several FB messages accusing me of lying and trying to steal the birds and my care being "inferior" to hers.

I don't believe my "friend" meant that to happen. This other woman (same one I got my ducks from) is just very cruel. Silly me can't take all the stress and burst into tears at work. I'm frickin 26 years old too old to be crying over some bully.

Sorry, I didn't see your other post, HUM don't know how I missed it. Once they start to develop, the Loose air cells is considered no longer a problem. They will hatch even if the air cell is loose. The MOST important thing is to not have them STICK to the side of the shell and apparently you are past that stage.

Don't be alarm when getting closer to lockdown day the air cell space all of a suddenly gets really LARGE. it's totally normal with loose air cells and is not a problem for the ducks.

its OK if the incubator cools down, mine cools down every evening because I HAVE to candle them. LOL I'm addicted to candling.. BTW..

Ok if your due date is the 26th, DO NOT LOCK THEM DOWN on the 22nd. the ONLY thing you want to do on the 22nd is to stop turning them. So on the 22nd take them off the turner and lay them down on the bottom of the incubator, NO more turning them. Still mist them if your doing that every day. Don't stop on this day. Lockdown should be the 23rd. on the 23rd that's when you need to jack up your humidity. Don't let it get to 80 OMG, that's a huge no no, it will kill them. A lesson I had to learn the hard way.

When you lay them down, slightly tilt them. push down on the little end so the big end is slightly up. This seems to help with upside downers.

Some people just aren't very nice. Try not to let it bother you so much.

YOUR CRYING? Really, I hope those baby ducks didn't see this? LOL

So how are you lying and stealing her birds?? I don't get that?

OK first of all, this is unacceptable, Why are you crying over something silly like this, we really have our work cut out for you. You see, you should be crying and Stressing over good things like, OMG, it's lockdown day. Not over some stupid immature woman.

Second of all, if your going to cry over some Bully woman, then shame on you, your letting her get the best of you. STAND UP and give it right back at her. If you take her stupidiness then your allowing her over come you.

If you allow her to overcome you, you might as well go to her house and give her a back massage, wash her hair, paint her nails and treat her like a queen. Now if you are NOT into that will THEN, F*** her. hit her hard right back. Bullies will keep bullying because they know your not going to do a d**m thing about it but take it.

We are stronger then that. Good LORD, I just heard the New Yorker Coming out of me. LOL did you see all those swear words. WOW. LOL..

You can't hid in the corner and let her win. She'll never stop. YOU NEED TO TOUGHEN UP SISTER, would you like me to talk with her. Because it won't be nice once I'M DONE. GRRRR...
