Call Ducks Finally Hatched

I am hatching chicks and ducklings this time. I have been thinking I will be needing a bigger brooder. I am going to bring in one of the kiddie pools. First I will drill holes along the outside edge`. Next I am going to encircle it with chicken wire, and attach the wire to the pool using zip ties,. Put it in the corner in my room then use netting for the top. Throw a big rock in for stability, and wood shavings. Lastly, pray that it works. Pools are great for puppies, why not poultry?

I have my incubators disinfected and set up. I placed the digital temp. and humidity gage in. Temp is 99. (the gage has no points, like .5) No water added yet. Should I keep that around 55% ? I am thinking I should set them on their sides on the turner from the very start. Is that right?

Unless you have two incubators, you are going to run into the same problem as last time. Chickens hatch earlier then ducks. Chickens take 21 days where ducks take longer. So when you lockdown the chickens guess what? You'll have to jack up that humidity and guess what's going to happen to the ducks? Yep, STICKY. We tried that here with one duck due a week before the others and sure enough even though we only jacked up the humidity to 55 for the one duck, it still made the others sticky and needed help. Losing a few in the process.

So No keep your humidity low even for chickens. Chickens don't need high humidity. But be prepared to have another incubator ready for lockdown....

As far as setting them on there side, well all depends are they shipped? Refer to my method if so as far as loose air cells and detachables and what not.. I always do the laying down method and if you do lay them down, remember you may have to tape at least one side of the egg. Some will roll off because of the shape.. GOOD LUCK, I'm sure you will have a much better hatching this time, your experienced at this now..

WHANNNN, I don't have a Pure white duck, only the Butterscotch, WHANNNN I have black??? LOL

4 can fit to a box, the box is $16 then whatever shipping is. Waiting for a quote from them. IF I can afford them, I will definitely post pictures, ha. They make it difficult because they take only cash. Won't let you pay via PayPal with a credit card. That makes the hit much more painful when doing my checkbook, ha.

Oh ok. The way I read it was that they didn't ship any bantam "ducklings" and the price of their adults were btwn $50 - $150 each plus shipping. You'll have to let me know.
