Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Well I can't find the Chocolate Bibbed, Sassy didn't do a very good job at watching over him.  GRRRRR.  Now I'm down to the "magpie wanna a beee".  I did find bloody paws behind the coop today so I'm not sure if a cat decided to make himself at home or what But I'm not a HAPPY CAMPER!!

So I had my Jack russel chase it out of the yard.  GRRRRRR I'm sure it will be back.  Sad part is I think it was one of my cats.  GRRRRRRRRRRR

:( oh no sorry to hear that!!! I hope the magpie wanna be is okay!!!

Tweek and Butters are doing great. In fact I think I was hearing Tweek "quack" for the first time today.

At first I thought she was having issues breathing then I realized she was inadvertently quacking. Ha. Anyways I hope that's what It was!

Awww. Poor baby. I hope that's not the case and you find him. Sucks though. I lost 1 of my banties last weekend and then 1 of my blue call babies on Friday. Not sure what happened to my bantie. She just disappeared. There 1 min gone the next. I never saw or heard anything. She's just at the point of lay so I'm hoping she's laying somewhere. Then Friday night when i came home my blue call baby was scooting across the ground on his belly. When I went into the coop to see what was going on he got up and ran over to the wall and just stood there staring at it. I picked him up and didn't see any signs of external injury so I brought him inside to the broader for observation. He took a couple sips of water then he seized and died. So weird. So heartbreaking to lose a little one. I hope yours comes back. I know it's a long shot but I still hope.

Lol. Too cute. I still have no idea what Lily is because she rarely ever makes a sound. I think she's a silver appleyard instead of a penciled like she was supposed to be though. From the 1st batch I have 2 white hens and 1 drake, 1 black bibbed hen and 2 drakes, 1 hen and 1 drake that are white with a few black spots and 1 hen that I think is aleutian but may just be a really light grey. Not sure on all the ones from the 2nd batch yet. I know 1 blue fawn hen because of color and the fact that she quacks all the time but not sure on the others just yet. I love watching them grow up. My buff hen has now given me 5 eggs. 3 incubating on day 5 today so should know fertility in the next day or so. They're her first so may not be but that's ok. She laid her 5th egg in their pool lol. Crazy duck!!

Sounds like good odds!! I have heard from people that 50/50 is very common when hatching out ducks in an incubator though so that's good.

Vera I think is grabbing the one Im getting from you on Thursday? Not positive, ha.

I have 3 due to hatch Thursday and 1 Friday, then 3 more in a week.

Whelp that foiled my plans. Had the investigator show up today to do his inspection. Good news my cage requirements and everything are all good!! Should get my license within 6 weeks. He wrote off as a verbal warning that I already had ducks and eggs. Didn't care about seeing records just said to maintain them and make sure I have them.

Bad news he said if I get anymore ducks before I get my license I will get fined. So I can't go get my Anconas tomorrow!!!!!

there's 5 two week olds that my friend had shipped to her place since the shipping is cheaper, so now I gotta pay her to feed them too!
OMG that's too funny

Hi everyone!

I have been laid up with some broken ribs. Never try to teach your llama to pull a sled! :he
Bad things can happen lol. Meanwhile I have gotten good at hatching chickens.

I also did some investigation on hatching ducks in high altitudes. I have been getting my eggs from lower altitudes. They have more pourious shells, and particles flow more easily in high altitudes. The humidity suggested is 35 - 45./.

This sounds right as the first eggs were too wet, at 50+ ? and the next just dried out at 20./.

And then they need to cool every day for a few minutes, so i can peek every day. I am not sure about misting. This is supposed to allow them to dry out easier. So hey, any one have eggs for sale? Mine laid 5 and just quit.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
