Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Hi everyone!

I have been laid up with some broken ribs. Never try to teach your llama to pull a sled! :he
Bad things can happen lol. Meanwhile I have gotten good at hatching chickens.

I also did some investigation on hatching ducks in high altitudes. I have been getting my eggs from lower altitudes. They have more pourious shells, and particles flow more easily in high altitudes. The humidity suggested is 35 - 45./.

This sounds right as the first eggs were too wet, at 50+ ? and the next just dried out at 20./.

And then they need to cool every day for a few minutes, so i can peek every day. I am not sure about misting. This is supposed to allow them to dry out easier. So hey, any one have eggs for sale? Mine laid 5 and just quit.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Oh man sorry to hear that!! Hope you are doing OK!

Mine are breeding but not laying yet!

Well I never tried the Llama sled, LOL

However, some of the information is good to know and some I really don't agree with, why because I have hatched out ducks using different methods. If you go to my website www.lwbarnhouse.com and click on the duck tab, there's TWO methods that I have used and both gave me the same results. Method 2 "lazy method", actually works for Chickens as well, I have never cooled down any of my eggs. Ducks nor chickens. I have 26 calls right now, last year, I hatched out over 75 of those bad boys, LOL,

Only because the addiction kicked into over drive for me and I went a little CRAZY.... LOL

But thank you for this infor.... I'll keep some of it in mind..

It is ok. Seemed like a good idea with all that snow. Doly llama had other ideas. Even at my ripe old age I keep coming up with dumb ideas. I am thinking about breaking that colt now. I still have plenty of pain killers left for when he throws me! He is just the right age now. :old

Ok here I go!

OMG, your gonna kill yourself. LOL

Soooo tomorrow is day 25......hope everything goes normal for the three duckies as far as hatching goes. My egg that was due to hatch Friday has died off and so did my ancona egg. Ergh.

So far all 3 due Thursday have movement and look OK. The one may need help as the air sac was detached and is stretched along the length of the egg.

I have 3 more due next week too and I can't help worrying about them. They are from the same person that the one that's due Friday but died off already is. I'll probably wait to take it out of the bator until Friday.

Cross your fingers for my 3 babies due Thursday!

Sorry you got hurt. Sounds like it would have been a lot of fun if he had cooperated lol. That'd be something I would try too. Always doing some crazy stuff. Good luck with the colt. Hope he gives in quickly lol.

PS.. my buff call hen is laying but they're her first so I'm testing fertility before selling any. Cold snap here last night into the 30s and tonight too so hopefully she keeps laying.

I found Call duck eggs, They are at sea level. With my altitude being at 4,265, what do you think about humidity? Also the oxygen is thinner. I was thinking that it wouldn't hurt if I gave them an extra puff of o2 every day.

Hey! I rode that mustang colt!!!! It was way too easy. I guess since I have been with him from the day he hit the ground, and working with him the last two years, he took everything calmly. No fear at all. He is going to be the easiest horse I have ever trained. Even rode him over a tarp. I will never get an older horse again. He should last me for the rest of my life anyway.

I hope the little duckies all hatch ok!
