Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Depressing night... my 1st one zipped 1/2 way around the egg and then quit for some reason :'( I opened him to be sure. Fully developed, completely absorbed, just quit for some reason :( The other in lockdown isn't due til Thur. He still seems to be doing fine. Hasn't internally pipped yet but rocks like crazy. Funny because these are my first call eggs to rock like that. I've spent hours staring into the incubator watching all the others hatch and have never seen one rock until these 2 lol. Hopefully this 1 makes it out ok. Have another due next Thur also. Hard to be excited at the moment but trying to be

Oh man Im so sorry! Poor little thing.

I've had some rock and had some not do anything. I love to watch the rocking though, that lets me know they are alive and strong.

Hope your other ones do OK!!

I put 7 in together from my ducks and also put some in that Diane sent me. I will be checking them in a couple days for veining.

I have 3 eggs collected so far. Hoping to get a couple more before I put them in the bator.

My blue fawn hen is my green egg layer. She has been mating with the snowy drake the past couple days. She keeps getting mad at me for stealing her eggs. After a month or 2 I think I will let her go broody.

I am sorry about your little duck.
It is so sad. My cat jumped up on my hatcher early this morning and it and egg #4 fell to the floor. Very sad. Poor little baby didn't make it.:(

Special is doing really good fhis morning. I kept looking at her trying to think of what may have gone wrong. The thought of a swollen head just hever occured to me. I am not sure what the proper corse of action should have been.

This morning she is holding her head up fine, walking normaly, eating and drinking. Its a miracle I did did not kill her through my inadiquite diagnosis. Maby I should call her lucky. Anyway here she is.

LOL awww that's great. I had a couple of my get heads that big, it's seems to happen when they are inside, instead of using there beaks they use the top of there heads to try and get out. Pushing on the shell with there heads will cause that swelling. But it does go down.. Good to see she's doing better...

Is that a FAKE Momma duck in there??? LOL..

Well if your head was the size of a watermelon I don't think you would be to coordinated LOL,  Poor thing, Can he use his legs at all?  or is he just gliding on his tummy?  Sounds like all that heavy weight on his head isn't doing justice for helping him to hold his neck up. I would be more concentrating on getting some swelling down rather then trying to make a neck brace.
That's a lot of weight for this little guy..

I would get him some bayer baby asprin see if that will help for the swelling.

Have you given asprin to a duckling? I will remember that. I always havee baby asprin on hand. I did give her the vitimins though. I tried doing the vent sexing. Lil dick is a boy and lucky and Daizy are girls. Mabe.
