Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Stacked on top of each other? If you are really careful I don't see why not, broody mommas stack them on top of each other.

Yay! Let the tetris begin! Thanks for the advice. Also, a few of the eggs were put in the carton small end up. I fixed them as soon as I got home. Is this going to cause any issues? The oldest was layed 4 days ago.

I got 28 more call duck eggs last night. What am I going to do with them? My incubator will only fit maybe 10 more. I got them purely by accident and they were free so how could I turn that down? Can call eggs be stacked in the bator for a week until some space is freed up?
you shouldn't, the weight could crack them.

usualy 2 weeks or old will cause issues, but again, I wouldn't stack them.

I haven't set them yet. Should I wait until Thursday when my I'll have a bator empty be better? The oldest ones will be 9 days old then.

Well they loose fertility, at two weeks or older chances are real slim. I would try to fit your oldest ones in there now and keep the newest ones in an egg carton in the basement or someplace cool, not the fridge. of course. until you have more room but if you do that unless you have two incubators your going to have issues when Lockdown arrives and if you have two bators why not put them in that one? Then rotate the eggs for lock down?

I have 4 bators...3 full and the 4th will be hatching this week. The 4th isn't full but I don't want to put them in there and not be able to turn them when the current eggs are hatching. I wouldn't mind splitting them into two hatches but I don't know which eggs are the oldest. She didn't mark individual eggs just the date she started collecting.

If they would only be stacked for a week max, then I would just stack them. You have a better chance of them hatching that way and that is how ducks themselves brood. I don't think it will cause issues if it is just one week. IMO.

LOL, well you only need a week to determine which ones to throw out because of no development.

All my eggs are looking real good in my new inkie. Nine out of ten are developing in the eggs I have been setting. I am getting allot of indie eggs too. My turner modification is working perfectly. Fingers crossed!

The first batch is due on Easter Sunday. I am getting more nervous as the due date approaches.

I got a new candling light, 76 lumen's. I can see everything now. Wow! what a difference!

Mary's spots are getting bigger and standing out more as her feathers are coming in. Definitely a girl, she is quacking now.
