If above is all correct, then check for internal pip. As Diane said, usually you can shine a light and see the beak. You can also hold the egg up to your ear and you should hear a "tapping" sound,

Once you have established that it is internally pipped, wait at least 24 hours or 1 day after due date. So wait until day 27, then you can make a tiny safe hole, you don't want it big, you can use a needle, all it does is stops the ducklings from suffocating.

Then wait another 24 hours after safe holing before intervening anymore.

If you are on day 28 and JUST now making the safe hole, then you need to wait until day 29 to intervene. Always always give them 24 hours from the time you make that safe hole, this really helps with them finishing up anything they need to absorb and keeps them at the point of not running out of air.

SO we are getting close, Monday I take the two from Tammy off the turner and lock them down due on Friday. They are still alive an moving considering I accidently locked them down last Tuesday. GRRR ME....

Woohoo!!! Fingers crossed!!! I have four from her, all of mine made it only had 2 quitters and one die during zip the rest hatched!!! Think 12 total??
 
Hi, I'm new here. I've been reading this thread on my down time for a month :) I'm hatching ducks and they are due this coming Thursday. Well... One has pipped over night! Unfortunately, he's upside down. I made the hole where he was pipped a bit bigger. He managed to break the shell but nothing else. So I gave him a little air by doing so hopefully. I also made a safe hole in the air space, but a big piece of shell broke off and I can in fact see in if I use a flashlight. I can't detech any pipping in the air sack so I think he's upside down for sure. What to do next?

A MONTH? LOL , BOY WE TALK ALOT. LOL...

First what are settings at? temp and Humidity? Second, Fan or No fan? Third, how do you have them in the bator, on the turner or laying down? Forth, how long has he pipped?

Okay. My sisters incubator is probably the cheapest you can find. There's no settings to put it at. Forgive me for sounding dumb please. The temp is at 100, I don't know about humidity. There are three wells for water and I only have the big one with water in it. I usually put water in the smaller two for lock down. He's early, so they aren't locked down. No fan for the incubator. No turner, I turn them three times a day to make sure they arent sitting in the same position every night. The are laying flat. I turned them last night at about midnight when I was headed to bed. My husband swears he heard peeps then, but I didn't after sitting quietly for a while. So, I'm assuming he pipped over night sometime. Could be over 12 hours, could be as little as 6-7 hours. I appreciate your help!
