Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Well I would have done things a little different, how long have you been doing this and how old it the bird?

What should I do differently? If I can't fix him, he probably won't live with the others. I have been doing this since he was 3 or 4 days old. He's almost 2 weeks old.

Ok well it's not long enough, You don't need to give him a full droper of polvisol just three drops a day directly in him..plus a full tablet of Vitamin E, this goes directly into his mouth I wouldn't waste putting it in the food. Give him some Vitamin B as well. Place a pill in a quart of water. Keep doing this each day, 3 or 4 days is not long enough. If it's wry neck, he should get worst before getting better.

I've been doing it since he was 3,or 4 days old, not for 3 or 4 days. I started putting the drops in the water because he just shakes his head and flings the drops everywhere when I give it directly. I'm not sure he gets any of the vitamins because of that. He does much better with the vitamin e, so I do give that directly. I do give vitamin b complex, I add it to the water, again because of the flinging that he does. It must taste horrible!

So... To recap, he has had vitamins for around 11 days - No more polyvisol or vitamin b in the water. And no more vitamin e in the food?

Should I try to get ahold of prednisone? I have heard that it has helped fix some ducks, but I'm not sure I can even get it or what to dose.

Thanks again for your assistance.

Well what you can put in the water is Probotics and Electrolytes, packages of three at Tractor supply.... As far as a duck, I found that Poultry Drench works VERY well too. Instead of the Polyvisol which usually works excellent on chickens, Try the poultry drench see if that doesn't help. Sorry I thought you have only been treating him for 3 or 4 days. WOW didn't know it has been that long, and your not seeing any improvements??

Switch to the Poultry Drench.. The Vitamin B3 count is HIGHER then the polyvisol. they need about 100 to 150 and Polyvisol has about 10.

But with the Vitamin B in the water and Poultry drench giving together it should help alot. AND they don't shake the heads as much for the Poultry Drench. They seem to REALLY like it.. LOL..

Send a pic.

It seems to have straightened out on its own. Maybe I just panicked too soon and he was still a little scrunched from being in the egg.
Look what I made to try to help contain the water mess. The wood chips are still dry after a day and a half! They even figured out the steps in less than 10 seconds!
