Call Ducks Finally Hatched

This isnt about ducks, but... I was hatching chickens for my big sister and only two out of 11 made it to hatch day and hatched. One of them won't make it. He hatched with a hole in the top of his beak and hasn't eaten or drank and when I try to get him to drink, he acts like he's choking, looks like its dry heaving almost.

Being flock animals, will the healthy chick make it alone? My husband will flip if we have to buy chicks to keep him company

You can raise a chicken by it'self, it's ducks that seem to need the company..

I have a question for you all...
One of my call ducklings is just over 4 weeks, and I have noticed that as her/his wing feathers are coming through they are pointing out wards, so I am thinking slipped/angel wing. I have read that you have to tape them up, but when do I do this and does anyone have any experience of this? Thank you
GUILTY. YES I HAVE..

Thank you. I'll have a read :)
Tape the wing make sure the one that is flaring out is tucked under the outer ones. I used first aid tape, it's water proof. doesn't have to be tight just enough to hold that flaring wing underneath. give him THree days, don't remove it don't touch it, after three days take the tape off, you will probably accidently take off some baby fluff but it's OK, check the wing if back to normal good deal, IF not tape them up again and give him more time, go Five days. you have to catch it early enough otherwise it becomes a permanent thing. if that happens they can live with it they are just unable to fly. but they can still swim, eat and drink regardless.

Good luck.

P.S. Angel wing is caused by to much protein, In my case, i gave my babies all you can eat meal worms every day. NOT GOOD..

Oh my gosh! How hard is it to strap her wing up, she won't stop wiggling!!! Argh! Safely on now, but she took the last one off!! Grr!! Lol

Did you try the nylon stocking idea? More comfortable and harder for her to wiggle out of. :)
