Call Ducks Finally Hatched

My girl laid her first egg today! I am so happy! On Valentine's Day!

It's my first egg as well, being they are my first ducks!

Perdy my Grey Call hen! Proud momma of her first egg!

Winnie my Snowy Call drake and Pippa my Grey Call drake!

So, here's my question - I live in Alabama and the temperature is going down to around 25 degrees tonight. We're also about to have an ice possible snow storm on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Will her first little egg be okay outside in this weather or should I bring it inside and give her an Easter egg until the weather warms back up? I'm not incubating her eggs, I'm letting her hatch her babies!

That egg will most definently freeze out there. I wait until mid april until I let my duckies sit on their own eggs. I just think it is too cold out right now for them to be hatching their own. All of mine that I let hatch their own this time of year all the ducklings have died of cold. Might just be my momma ducks though.

Well once they hatch, I'm going to bring them inside and raise them in a brooder with a heat lamp! Just like I did Perdy, Winnie, and Pippa! I wanted to let Perdy hatch them though! I have an incubator if the time comes where I need to intervene and hatch the eggs myself! Please tell me anything and everything I need to do with her first little egg, so it survives! Thank you!

Yes, they get LOTS of love! My dogs and ducks are my whole life! I love them more than anything! And now, I'm wanting to ensure our first little egg makes it! Cause I would be completely heart broken otherwise!

I know what you mean about critters. I don't have ducks but have two little bitty zebra finches that I love very much and whom I allow to fly around my home. I can see why you are protective of Perdy's little egg. I sure hope it thrives and all goes well. Exciting!!
