Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Would you recommend misting them as a whole one time a week or sponging each egg one time a week? I definitely want to try my best and avoid all sticky situations! I only candled the one egg last night and I could CLEARLY see veins as well as his or her little heartbeat! :) What a wonderful site to see!

I would give them a light misting each week

I have a question about your "saddled" comment. I have one (or maybe 2) that have a saddled look. What causes that? I am day 9. Started with 14 duck eggs and 4 turkeys. Had 4 infertile ducks, took out day 7 and 1 infertile turkey, took out this evening, but everything else looks good.
I'm doing weight method, and they didn't lose enough weight thru day 7, so I have lowered the humidity and I've weighed a few over the last couple of days and they are doing better. Still have alot of catching up to do for the first 7 days. How low can the humidity get and not be harmful?

A saddle-shaped air cell is just what it sounds like; instead of a nice round air bubble, it becomes warped and pinched in the middle, like this:

I've never used the weight method personally, and if you're only in the first week of incubation I wouldn't sweat it too much. If you're constantly taking the eggs out to weigh them, that could actually do more harm than good. Lacrystol posted an excellent hatching guide a few posts above, I recommend you check it out! Good luck with the eggies!

Okay y'all, ALL 6 of my Perdy's first ever laid eggs are definitely fertile! :) If you remember, I could've sworn by this much (cause of how much my boogers LOVE to mate as well as how long they've been mating) but then I candled them and the very first egg was the only egg that didn't have a blood ring. I candled tonight (day 5) and I definitely saw veins but @Lacrystol this is where I need your help. It does look slightly different than the others, I guess the best way to try and describe it is that, it's looser? I hope there's not a problem with the air cell or something and that it has already 'quit' :( Would it be beneficial if tomorrow night, when I candle again, I take a few pictures for you to try and see? I am PRAYING he or she pulls through!

WOO! Congrats! As for me, I candled tonight and saw 2 out of 6 eggs had a little red dot! A third was iffy, I think it had a dot but it was hard to tell from the writing on it. The other three I saw bubkis, but I'll wait until day 7 to be sure.

A blood ring is what you get when an embryo just starts to develop but then dies right away. All of the blood settles in the 1 vein and it looks like a red line or ring around the egg. Spider veining is what you get when the embryo is growing.

Since she's still early in development, I think she means the typical blood "halo" that appears early on. Like below:

Oops yes! I meant the blood halo! Thanks @Amykins :) They're definitely all alive and growing! The only one I'm concerned about is the first one, that seems sorta loose or something. I'm going to take a pic when I candle again tomorrow night and then post it, so y'all can see and hopefully help me.
