Call Ducks Finally Hatched

How are the eggies coming along? Moved emus into my new fridgebator. My old stryafoam bator broke. I was in the basement when it happened. The thing that controls heat broke. And thank god I just happened to be watching the bator when it went above the right temp and wouldn't shut off... Just soo worried about these emus!

You know how when a duckling hatches It doesn't need food or water for three days? Does that apply to all birds. I have a problem, I had the dates off and my emus are actually due April 30th. And that is the day I leave for the beach to spend easter with my family... I get back on the third though. Will one emu be ok that 3 days? I cant put food in the hatcher where they hatch it is big enough. Another question; If say only one emu hatches and I am not back until three days later. Will it still imprint on me? Or is that too long of a wait?

Sorry not call ducks but still fowl....

Ill take a guess BOY

Hehehe, what are we making a betting pool now? 'Cuz if so I so want in, I'm bettin' on girl since he needs one so badly! Wishful thinking perhaps, since I want a girl too. I gotta think positive! <3

They're all totally dark and veiny inside! Just did the last candling to mark the air cell and X the spot where the pip is most likely to be. Now it's up to them. I won't be able to take another peek until internal pip, and lockdown is Saturday, I'm so excited!

As for the emus, eh...the yolk will sustain them for a day or two (admittedly since emu yolks are so ginormous I dunno how long it'll last) but to be all alone when they hatch? No one to place them in the brooder or imprint on, no one to look after them just in case? I don't like the thought at all. I always make darn sure I'm home when I'm expecting babies in case something happens!

Well I was supposed to be home but had the dates off.....I have a new plan! Because emus in the wild take around 65 days to hatch because the male emu incubated at around 94 degrees. So I will lower the temp and have them just hatch later when I am home.... Do you know if it is too late to lower temp.? They are about 36 days along.

That just sounds like a really bad idea to change the temps so late in incubation, or even to change the temps in general...isn't there any way you can stay home? I know it's a bit of a tall order, but you entered this obligation when you bought those eggs. :/
