Call Ducks Finally Hatched

Wh
AC wasn't broken, that's why humidity is 74 in my room right now

Why don't you run the Bator in a cooler? It would be like its own little biome in there sky outside humidity shouldn't affect it. Or maybe and old non-running fridge.....

I dont see how that could provide them with the ventilation they need. ??

Coolers still allow enough ventilation. Or some of those Bator coolers wouldn't work. I keep my eggs in a cooler before they hatch and they all still develops. I also hatch in a fridgebator so they do still allow enough air flow.

I'm sure the ones that people design for it work. I've seen some good ones. I thought you were just recommending that she stick it in any ole regular cooler. Sorry...

We just don't have $3000 to get a new AC so we are having to wing it, I will make this my last hatching for the year because the weather is only going to get hotter. I'll let my girls do the rest of the work. Been looking for one of those Window a/c's. I'm sure that would be cheaper then trying to dig up $3000 LOL. But for now, I'm just trying to do the best I can with what I have. hate the fact that I'm losing babies but Hopefully I will get some of them to make it on hatching day. Chickens are popping out left and right but my duck eggs, not so good. So at least I can add to my Splash coop. LOL

a house without ac thats tough lol
its is hitting 80's to 90s down here and its only the beginning of summer by june we are expecting it in the high 90s to 100s idk what we would do without ac

I'm confused. Me and lacrystol live in about the same climate but I have never had AC and have hatched in the summer.... Maybe it's just that we have more different climates than I thought. How about one of those fans that have an ax unit built in. Those aren't too expensive and you can just have one of those blowing on your Bator.

And with the AC. I can't sleep in a house with AC. I grew up without and have just gotten used to it. I like the heat you feel when you get into bed when it's hot outside. But that's just me. My house is 200yrs old so it's a lot like Swiss cheese. Most of the heat goes outside in the winter so most of the AC would go out in the summer if I had it. Good thing my house is heated by a wood stove outside or my gas bill would through the roof!

I'm less than 200 miles south of both of you, and usually get the same weather patterns. Its been super hot and crazy humid here too. I noticed the hygrometer on the wall in my hallway was reading about 68% yesterday. I looked at the meter in my empty bator (not even turned on now, but I had it set up for some tests) and its reading 61%. Pollen has been horrible too!

I know chickens and ducks are different birds so does that mean their bator humidity levels have to be different? Or can they be the same and the result for some reason being the ducks not making it?

I have figured out another thing, I could try but not sure how I can hide it. If I plan on doing more eggs, I was going to bring the bator to my work. I'll have to hide it for 26 days but I think I can do it. LOL

Well chickens are popping out like crazy, so it seems like they can tolerate the up down humidity. My ducks are not doing so well So I'm gonna have to say, ducks need a slightly different atmosphere. Ive already hatched out about 15 chickens with no problems, but loosing ducks like crazy. I like for my humidity to be down to 16% but at this rate grrr. I have 9 more days for some of my ducks, crossing fingers I can get some of them to survive...
