@TwoCrows how old do my quail chicks need to be before putting them in with my adults, and is the integration process the same as with chickens?
With Coturnix quail, you can mix chicks in when they are 7 to 8 weeks old.
And yes its just like mixing chickens....intro from a cage, within the flock, new birds caged for 2 or 3 weeks so everybody gets to know each other from behind wire for a few weeks. Make SURE to give them plenty of room, at least 2 square feet or more per bird, add more food and water stations until young birds are thoroughly excepted into the flock. Good luck!![]()
Those are so cute.. I might take mine out today for a bit of sunshine too. Depends on what I get done and the weather. I have been opening up the garage door to let in the heat and natural light. They sure love eating chickweed..Mine won't go out to their respective coops for a few weeks yet until I can tell boys from girls.

That just sucks eh?..Better luck next season...Zipped 3/4 of the way and was face down when I picked him up. There was membrane over his nostrils and a foot over his head. I think he got stuck and tired on top of all of it.
No more eggs until next year. I’ll pack away the incubator and see how I feel about it next year.
How often do you like to incubate eggs?Just heard from my friend and she will be here around one or two today...
Now to get setting and in 10 or less days I'll know how many viable eggs I'm dealing with...
..I hate waiting to know..
