My friend just downsized from 10 acres to 5 and she’s working towards being self sustainable. She has fruit trees, a vegetable garden, chickens for eggs, and she does her own canning. I’m going to see if I can build a bachelor pad on her property and raise cockerels for meat on her property and on butchering day we’ll split the birds.

Has anyone ever used shed walls to make a coop? My aunt has an old shed, fencing, fence posts, an old swing set, and other lumber that I’m picking up from her house in March.

You can build anything if you have the wood...

I have so much to do in March . I have to assemble a prefab coop, get lumber from my aunt, build my large coop, get bantams from my chicken contact, set up a brooder for new layer chicks, and set up my quarantine crate.

Take 10 steps back and never buy Birds till the Coop is ready...My Husband asks this..what came first? The Chicken or the egg?....He says the Coop...

The bantams are going into the prefab coop and the new layer chicks will go into the large coop. I’m not getting the layer chicks until their coop is built. I want to have the brooder set up at least 2 weeks before I get the chicks.

I got Ducks as a whim..I sold Ducklings for a Lady from far up North..I got sick and bonded to the Ducklings..Yikes..Little Brats thought I was their Mom..
Inturn my love of Ducks grew to be a passion of mine......I LOVE DUCKS!
