If you get more chickens next year how many and what breed will you get?No.. not right now. Maybe next year.
probably 4 and the same breedIf you get more chickens next year how many and what breed will you get?
They’re a good duel purpose breed. And they will lay for much longer than the sex links and production breeds. My family friend just lost a few 9 year old Orpington hens who still laid 1-2 eggs a week.probably 4 and the same breed
Hopefully Buff orps tho! If i can convince dad
True they are prolific egg layers, but they will be spent in 3-4 years. What is the primary reason that your family keeps chickens? Is it for eggs/meat?Yeah but my hybrids lay everyday![]()
Do you sell the eggs? What will you do with the hens once they stop laying? Add some White Leghorns to your flock, they aren’t hybrids and are prolific layers of large white eggs.Eggs! I shouldn't let them cull my babies and they couldn't do it themselves lol
I’ve never put words to it but I like figuring out their behaviors too. I’m a “why” person. Why do they do this or that. I guess it fits my personality and career. The word scientist is in my job title so figuring out why suits me I guess.I get sooo many eggs. It's getting worse every day as we head into spring. A good majority get cracked and splatted on the ground for the birds to gobble up. It cuts the feed bill a bit too.
If I'm ambitious I scramble some up, my birds are like little velociraptors for eggs.
I got a big mouth, and I like giving my 2 cents. Not really, I'm an introvert that likes talking critters and sharing what I have learned, and to learn some more myself so I answer a lot of posts.
I spend lots of time observing my critters, I have a thing for behaviors and figuring out their purposes.![]()
