I got the lavender and mint from a local old timer.....:idunno

She is into lots of holistic natural things.... given me lots of advice that works..... I don't do added supplements. Just use poultry protector and my wound spray when needed. If it's not going to make it its not going to make it. If they thrive I'm happy. If I need to cull, I will. Other than trying the lavender and mint I'm with you!:highfive:
I hate the smell of Lavender and mint is great in ice cream..:lau...:woot

I have been asking my Husband to build me a house up off the ground for my Ducks in the Dog Run..Or Build me a simple box that's open on one end for my Ducks that don't want to use the Dog house. I have the little shed thing but I can't move it myself and using that would mean I'd have to cut a hole in the Run so the Birds could go in and out themselves.. Probably will be doing the same thing as last winter and it was a pain daily..
Husbands aren't always cooperative with our visions. ;)

Hocus Pocus!:lau:gig

This is why we love you!:hugs

Mint is also good. Deters rodents, bugs, and such. Since I planted mine up at the house I don't see a lot around there.
I am planning to plant mint and lavender around the run. Whether it deters or not - we shall see. But, I like the plants. So, it can be a bonus benefit. :)

Ever since Backyard chicken keeping became a hip thing to do a lot of crazy ideas on keeping them has popped up. The Birds haven't changed but the added supplements have increased..I'm not one to jump on a bandwagon and try any of them..
I do believe you are right in that. ;) I posted a reply on a post that asked about tiny flies. I responded you mean gnats? Then, thought who doesn't know what a gnat is. A hipster. :lau
