Call Ducks piping and died

Hmmm call ducks usually hatch in 26 days average. Have you candled recently to check for movement, internal pips, drawdown?

I'm not sure what drawdown is but I was told 28 or 29 days on call ducks. The one that piped and is dead in the egg did that last night. It's just sad.

Oh and yes I just took a few out one looked like it might be moving. The others had still Beaks.

Call ducks are definitely usually 26 days, so whoever told you 28 or 29 days was misinformed. 29 days is too long even for standard large fowl ducks.

Draw down is when the air cell starts to pull down one side of the egg as the duckling inside begins to position for hatching.

Call ducks, because of their short necks and beaks, can have a hard time hatching on their own, especially if they are from show lines. They very often need help to hatch, or they die.

I’m sorry, I think I confused threads. I was thinking you mentioned a GQF cabinet incubator. There are many inexpensive thermometers and hygrometers that you can buy. Just be sure to test them for accuracy before trusting them. Google ways to test, depending on what type you get. But I would definitely suggest an independent set of meters.

I always watch air cells. If humidity is too high they won't lose enough moisture so can drown once they internally pip. I lower humidity if needed 7 to 10 days before lockdown if the air cells are too small. It takes a couple of days of lowering the humidity. Once air cells are the right size I put the humidity to normal and up it at lockdown.
Your location plays a huge part in incubation. For myself I start my eggs at 40% Humidity and lockdown at 60%
My incubator is a Hova bator 1588 and I hatch my eggs on their side. I flip 3 times a day.

Hello and I want to thank you for all your input. They were all dead but I was wanting to try again and had another question. Do you think that called duck eggs would be fertile in New York with the temperatures? I'm not sure how to post a new thread I just wanted to ask you and you can share it with others if you would. My birds stop laying a month ago in NH

Yes I did see that in the eggs. I just sent for more from NY. I hope they are fertile at this time of year.
