I could, that does seem to match. I'm being too picky I know but I wanted something a bit less common XD I'm really overthinking this. Any smart, gentle animal with a mothering instinct could be like that. And if she's protective of those she loves then I could count the mothering instinct, right? So maybe a bird, those are dead smart and make great parents, or an otter.

I was thinking chicken too but I don't want Alyssa to be eaten while she's playing in her animal form
