calling all Ameraucana, Araucana, and EE experts

I think it probably gets even more confusing with Ameraucanas than with other breeds, since there is sooooo much misrepresentation and cross-breeding going on with them. The "serious" Ameraucana folks have to be extra special careful in order to avoid possibly introducing mutt birds into their lines!

Lavender breeds true...... if you breed two lavender birds together you get 100% lavender. Plus, it is a solid blue.... there shouldn't be any difference in color anywhere in the feathering. As to where with blues there is sometimes lacing, darker hackle feathers, etc.

According to the Ameraucana club it is an easter egger.

Would there be the possibility of those crosses between a silver and a brown/red later on throwing off offspring that would in fact carry the colors back from just one of those so that they would in fact breed true? Or would it take too much inbreeding for that to happen?

In other words, can you ever get back from an EE to an Ameraucana????

Are we getting any clearer on this or just more confused. I think I am more clear. And since I don't breed my girls, I am just glad to know that some of mine are Easter Eggers.

I really feel the passion from some of the true Ameraucana/Araucana breeders.

There are crosses that can be made within the varieties, but to a newbie it can be complicated and the resulting offspring generally are considered ee's. The crosses are not shown and are used a resource to improve a variety and usually once the goal is met they are sold as ee.​

i just want to point out that I certainly don't consider myself an expert. I just read and learn as much as I can as I have an interest in the ameraucana breed. I rely on Pips&Peeps as the ameraucana expert/police on this board.
