Hi Barncat owners! I’d like to dedicate a thread to acknowledge all the hard work our teams of Tough Fluff do for us ;)
weather that’s keeping away the pests, protecting the garden from chickens, keeping away predators, and running the barn, the barn cats do so much for us! I’d love to share stories and adventures from your past/current barn cats! (Plus a photo while your at it!) I know I could go on And on about my little Squirrel Officer- So let’s hear about yours!

This is Shadow.the most friendly little thing you’ll find! She has many hobbies including: jumping from the second story of the house into the guests shirts (actually happened), ā€œcobweb surfingā€ in the rafters of the barn, coming home with webs strewn across her face, leaving us the daily mole, mouse, bird, or rabbit (rabbits that she brings home tend to be twice her size. Also- If anyone has tips on how to get blood stains out of concrete that would be very much appreciated, since that’s not exactly something you can google šŸ˜‚) and hanging out with a wild flock of turkeys, plus the occasional dip in the pond (when the water is low, she plays in the drain pipe- hours of entertainment in her book!) if just my one cat can come up with all these crazy things- I must ask- what has YOUR barncat done?

(This thread is aimed towards owners of barn cats, outdoor cats, pest control cats, and any other cat that has a lifestyle based outdoors. While indoor house cats are awesome, I would prefer we stick to cats in the barncat spectrum. *cats who live half their life outside and half inside, are ok as long as they have a job to do outdoors*)

Shadow is lovely and sounds quite entertaining. However, my only barn cats have been ferals that hung out for a while, then disappeared or -- in the case of my favorite, Hunter -- ended up as roadkill.
Aww I’m sorry šŸ˜”. Our ā€œflockā€ of stray cats stay clear of the road even though it’s barley used. Never had anything happen like that but I hope it doesn’t.

Your Shadow is a twin to my little Boo.
One of my dogs nabbed her in the chicken yard one night when she was very tiny. I gave her a silly name (thinking I'd find her a home), had her vaccinated, wormed, and spade. And one year later, she is still here. Boo isn't exactly a barn cat. Lol.
She was an inside "prisoner " for several months but now she stays out most of the day. The dogs love her and the chickens tolerate her.
