I love birding! Nothing seems to give me more joy than to go outside on a Michigan spring morning and hear a Wood Thrush singing its magical song in the deep depths of the woods or to see a Blackburnian Warbler's orange face glowing in the dawn sun. I currently have 173 birds on my life list and hope to see many more! The highlight bird I've seen this year so far is the Snowy Owl. I'd love to hear from other birders!

Fellow Birder here From Maine. Check out Mainebirding.net for our local bird Alert. We have a Eastern Towhee visiting here for the last few days( a first for us).

I enjoy the visiting birds to moms yard and know most of the names.

We had my cousin with a group of birders he was leading on a birding tour in California. It was fun to have a dozen Dane's with glasses and cameras running around in the yard so excited to see some of the ones I think of as common. I am adding plants that will attract a few more and give cover to the ones we have. I think the ones I enjoy the most are the towhees, they seem to shadow us in the yard watching to see if we have turned up anything of interest. Kind of like the chickens.

We have one bird feeder for now, that is hung to the wild birds can enjoy the seeds and the chickens can help clean up after them, we have a rat issue in the area. The chickens check the wall under that bird feeder constantly.

One thing I like, is sitting outside, watching the sun rise, listening to the birds wake. First time this year, we had a Carolina wren over wintering here. We also had a young Coppers hawk visit us during Christmas. The better half is really into birds. She frequents the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and there Facebook page. I believe she is starting a list of birds a the feeders. I feed the crows

We went to a nature park in Syracuse for a tour and saw a saw-whit owl. Thank goodness we had a guide or we never would have seen him. There was a professional photographer with our group and he got some really nice pics. I took some pictures and couldn't find the owl in them until my son pointed it out. Some nature person I am.
